Is this year’s Presidential election designed to sear our conscience with a spirit of scorn? To “scorn” means to boast, mock, be critical or arrogant. God says if we do this we will lose His blessings!”

Psalm 1:1-3 says, “BLESSED is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the SCORNFUL; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and WHATEVER he does shall PROSPER.”

If we sit in the position of a SCORNER, it will disqualify us from playing an integral role in the next move of God’s Spirit! But if we heed what Psalm 1:1-3 instructs, we will be front and center and used by God beyond our wildest expectations.

I don’t know about you, but I had an ‘ouch’ moment when I read this article. I had just sent out a teaching on being critical, yet I didn’t realize how critical I was being with this presidential election.

I will admit, to the natural eye, there is much to criticize with what all is going on during the media coverage of this election, however, we simply can’t go there. We must pray and ask God for wisdom on how to pray about the election and how to vote in the election, beyond that, we really need to keep our opinions to ourselves. We especially need to remove ourselves far from criticism.

Criticism WILL stop our blessing and remove God’s manifest presence from us until we repent. As I continued to read Sid’s message, he said; ‘I was immediately convicted over my addiction to the election news. In fact, my conscience was being seared in this area. Daily the scorn and contempt of almost all the candidates for one another have reached new lows. I actually repented over the phone the moment I realized my sin. What a difference! I hadn’t realized how such a little leaven grieved the Spirit of God. I had been experiencing the flow of God’s Spirit before, but the hindrances were blocking the FULLNESS of His Presence. After I repented, there was a tangible increase in the Presence of God.’girl-with-her-hand-over-her-mouth-300x273

I don’t know where you are in this, maybe this isn’t for you at all. However, if you find yourself being critical, check your heart and repent. Don’t block your blessing, it’s not worth it. Simply pray and give it to God.

Of course, this doesn’t only apply to this year’s election but to everyday living. We need to keep our heart right before God at all times and keep our hearts clean from all criticism, remembering; BLESSED is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the SCORNFUL. And remembering if we are being scornful, we are not blessed and what we put our hands to will NOT prosper. That is a scary thought to me. Therefore, today, I repent of being critical of this presidential election and I give it to God. I too, am done with it. God’s presence and blessing in my life means more to me than any opinion I may have. I choose his word concerning this.

Friends, if we want to walk in the blessing of God, we must obey the word of God. It’s the only truth. Meditate in the truth alone.
