“Don’t you realize, you are now eating the harvest from the seeds you sowed last season?”

This is something God once spoke to me…

You may recall, I shared with you how God began speaking to me in January about the scripture found in Deuteronomy 8:18, “But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

Since January, God has been speaking to me about this power He has given us to prosper.

When He spoke to me about today’s harvest being from the seeds I sowed last season, I began to ponder this truth.

Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

I love how the Phillips translation says it, “Don’t be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God! A man’s harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows.”

Don’t be under ANY illusion, my harvest will depend ENTIRELY on what I sow.  I am eating today from the seeds I sowed last season.

Many do not understand the timing involved in sowing and reaping.  We don’t often sow today and reap today.  Or tomorrow.  Perhaps not even next month.  Our life must be a life of sowing in each season.  If it is, we will reap in each season.

Yes, there are times we sow and reap immediately.  I thank God for those times.  However, in my life, my experience is that I sow one season and reap the next season.  Just like planting a garden in the natural.

If I want to reap enough vegetables for my own family, I will plant a few vegetable seeds.  When harvest season comes, I will harvest enough for me and my family.  However, if I want to share with others and have more to sow, then I will plant many more vegetable seeds.  I plant in one season and harvest in another.  If I plant sparingly…I reap a little.  If I want to reap a lot, I plant abundantly.

It is much this way in the spiritual realm.  We sow in one season and reap in another.  It is for this reason that Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up.”

“Don’t you realize, you are now eating
the harvest from the seeds you sowed last season?”

If we desire to understand Deuteronomy 8:18, we must understand patience and process.  If God promises He has given us the power or ability to get wealth, and He did, then we need to understand the process, don’t you think?

I love what James 1:4 says, “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” I truly love this verse, but that wasn’t always the case.  Years ago, I was going through a trial when my pastor called and said he had a word for me.  That word was this scripture and it was certainly not what I wanted to hear.  Since that day, I have learned the wisdom and worth of this scripture

No farmer sows his seed in the morning and digs it up the next day because he doesn’t see his harvest.  Why?  He understands the process and he allows patience to have its perfect work.  He knows if he continues to water his seed, he will have a harvest.  He is aware of the process of seed, time, and harvest.  He has sown his seed.  Now, he will wait and be patient and continue to water his seed, knowing his harvest is coming.  He has no doubt.  Neither should we.

He understands his harvest in life depends entirely on what he sows…therefore he sows.  So should we.

What was God saying to me when He asked, “don’t you realize, you are now eating the harvest from the seeds you sowed last season?”

He was saying look back at the seeds you sowed last season.  And look at the harvest you have now.  If you want to reap more, sow more.  It’s simple really.

Wealth is not just about money; it is all inclusive.  Wealth includes well-being.  It includes wholeness in our body.  It includes restoration in our family.  It includes peace and soundness of mind.  Every day we have an opportunity to sow into these areas.  Today, we are eating of what we sowed last season.  What did you sow last season?  What harvest are you eating from today?

Most of the prayer requests we get are for finances.  Take an in depth look today at what you sowed last season.  If what you have today is not enough, sow for the next season.  Sow for a better future.  Do not grow weary in well doing.  Just like the farmer, you will reap if you faint not.  Trust God and trust the process.  Allow patience to prevail.  In the end, as the Word says, you will lack nothing.

Appoint My Days

I am more than a conqueror in Christ. Overwhelming victory is mine today. Fear cannot hold me back. Depression has no place in my life. Lack cannot come near me. My thoughts line up with Gods Word. My mouth confesses His greatness and His love for me. The enemy cannot hold me back, defeat me or discourage me for victory is mine in Christ.
