First of all, I want to thank all of you who sent birthday cards, gifts and flowers. What a blessed birthday I had last week. Thank you so very much for your love, kindness, and precious words – they are a treasure to me indeed.

I want to share a little about my day and the faithfulness of God. He is certainly a good, good Father.

So, I had been looking for a glider rocker for over a year. I kept being told it was something of the past and they were no longer carried in furniture stores. Knowing Breanne and the kids were taking me out of town for my birthday, I looked ahead at the city we would be visiting to see if perhaps they had one.

You see, years before I had purchased a glider rocker, it was my prayer chair. I had prayed so many hours in that chair that the anointing of God rested upon it, just like the handkerchiefs in the Bible. Unfortunately, after many years the bearings began to fall out, and eventually it was unusable.

An acquaintance of mine offered to visit the furniture stores in that area to see if they had one. She did and they did not. Oh well, I would keep looking.

We went on our day trip, and it was quite pleasant. We had lunch, visited antique stores (another thing I love) and were enjoying ourselves. On the drive through the town, Brandon suddenly pulled into a furniture store. I started to say, “Cheryl already checked here, they don’t have a rocker.” However, since I was looking for a couple more pieces of furniture, I kept quiet.

A young man greeted us as we walked through the door. We let him know we were just looking and then I shared how I was looking for a glider rocker but was told they no longer were sold in furniture stores. He said, “yes, a lady came in last week inquiring about one and my brother said they were a thing of the past and we no longer carried them.” I smiled and walked on through the store.

To my surprise, he came back about fifteen minutes later and said, “I don’t know why, but I decided to look in our computer system and it said we have one of those rockers in the warehouse, we don’t keep them on the floor because no one looks for them anymore, but it says we have one, do you want to come look?”

“Are you serious?” I exclaimed. He assured me he was, and I followed him to see. Sure enough, there sat a new glider rocker, dark wood, just like I wanted and tan, just like I needed. I was shocked.  “Try it out” he said. So, I did. Memories of hours of prayer rushed through my mind as I sat in that chair.

I was astounded. He then told me that this one was a floor model, but they had one more, brand new in the box, if I was interested. Of course, I was. We loaded that chair up and brought it home with me – I now have a brand new, perfectly matched prayer chair. On my birthday!

God never ceases to amaze me. This day was no different. He gave me the desire of my heart – even when I was told over and over again it was impossible. God held that chair for me for years, knowing I would come in looking for it. He kept it for me.

If God cares that much about a chair, how much more does He care about the things you are praying and crying out for? How much more does He care about your children, your finances, your health?

Matthew 7:11 says, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”

I cannot sit in that chair without meditating on God’s faithfulness – what a great start for a prayer chair, don’t you think?

I want to encourage you today, He is faithful. Even when it seems impossible. Even when you are told there is no way it will happen – trust Him – He will not disappoint. He cares about every little thing about you and your family AND He has already gone before you and made a way where there seemed to be no way. Trust Him. Trust Him and keep knocking on that door – it will open wide for you – it sure did for me, and God is no respecter of persons, He will do the same for you today. To God alone be all the glory.

That wasn’t the only surprise God had for me that day – perhaps in the days ahead, I will share more…
