Today, I thought about a scripture and how God once gave me insight concerning this verse. It is found in 2 Corinthians 9:10.

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

My mind went back to the first year I planted a garden at my house.

My aunt and uncle came to my house one morning to help me prepare the area. We tilled the ground. We put a fence around the garden to keep out the deer and other critters who loved to travel through my yard. Then we measured our rows. My uncle was very particular about how straight the rows had to be. Once he was satisfied with my rows, it was time to plant the seed.

My aunt and I gathered our seeds and headed toward the garden. Brailee wanted to help. She was very little at the time – only two years old. Whatever we were doing, she wanted to be a part of it, that day was no different.

My aunt and I began to walk down the rows to plant seeds. Brailee was close behind us, with both her pockets as well as her little hands filled with seed. As we walked down the long rows, my aunt and I dropped in one seed at a time. Not so with Brailee. She was coming behind us, dropping her little handful of seed each time. What a sight that was!

When our garden came up that year, there was harvest everywhere! It was not just one corn stalk here and one there, they were everywhere. All because of the multiplied seeds sown by our little helper.

Concerning 2 Corinthians 9:10, I once heard a minister say something wonderful.

He said, “when we sow a seed, God goes behind us and multiplies our seed sown by dropping in even more seed.” After watching Brailee that day with her handful of seeds – I could finally see what this minister meant. I saw exactly what this scripture was saying to us.

I had seen Brailee do the same thing. Come along behind us and add seed to our already planted seed. Furthermore, I saw the result of it – the abundant harvest of it.

Can you imagine sowing seed and God coming behind you and adding more seed to your account? God places an anointing of multiplication on every seed we sow in faith! That word, multiply, means He increases every seed we sow until it becomes a great number. A mighty harvest. He doesn’t multiply all seeds, only seed that is sown.

He cannot multiply what is never sown.

I daily pray Gods blessings over every seed that comes into our ministry. I pray He multiplies every seed that is sown until it becomes a tremendous harvest. God is faithful. His Word will not return void but will accomplish exactly what it was sent for. He will do what He promised and multiply every seed I sow. Every seed YOU sow.

I can still clearly see the corn from the year Brailee helped us plant the garden. Our seed multiplied and we had corn coming up everywhere – what a harvest! What a lesson I learned that year. One that is still with me eleven years later. May you see the same thing with the seed you sow today and every day. A harvest of mass proportions – coming up all around you – greater than you ever imagined.
