Last week I was busy cleaning my house when the Lord began to speak to my heart.
He softly and gently said to me, “I want you to go to a new level of peace.” My heart silently questioned, “How do I do that?” He was quick to answer, “Follow my lead.”
During the month of September and into October, of this year, I began to walk through an extremely challenging time – it was a very personal challenge, one I thought would surely crush me. But it didn’t.
At the very beginning of it I began to press into God. I listened to the Word of God at least six hours a day. I stayed in the Bible, day after day. I prayed constantly. At night I would go to sleep listening to the Word of God and wake up the same. The weapon formed against me did not prosper – only because I chose to draw so near to God that nothing could consume me but Him.
I had a great deal of peace…please understand me, I was not trying to have peace, I was not choosing peace when I really felt no peace, no, I had peace. A peace that passed understanding. I am fully persuaded that had I not chosen to press into God, it would not have been that way. That weapon would have prospered, and I would have had to fight my way back.
Now, God is saying, “follow Me to a new level of peace.”
I knew the way I attained peace a few months ago, therefore I am certain I understand the way to a new level of peace. Follow His lead.
Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
This is our first clue; we must be led by the Spirit of God.
We must also remain spiritually minded and do our best to keep our mind OFF negative things, especially things going on in our world that attempts to steal our peace on a weekly basis.
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6
God is peace and His way is the way to peace for each one of us. 1 Cor. 14:33 says God is the author of peace.
Finally, Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
The key to walking in peace in any situation or challenge is this – keep our mind stayed on God. Trust God.
For our mind to be ‘stayed’ upon God means to lean on God, to rest in Him and to brace oneself with God alone. It also means to find your refreshment and reviving in God.
Don’t you just love that!
My friends, this can be one of the busiest and seemingly chaotic times of the year – it can be, but it does not have to be. That is not what God wants for you, not during this season or any other season. He desires for you to walk in peace – a whole new level of peace. The key is following His lead by staying filled with Him and His Word, by keeping our mind constantly stayed upon Him.
Perhaps, you cannot spend hours in the Word of God or listening to the Word, take heart, you can still keep your mind stayed on God. There are many different ways.
Find a scripture and mull it over and over in your mind during the day.
Play worship or praise music while you work or do errands.
Set a few minutes aside on your lunch break to read just a few scriptures.
Talk to God. HE LOVES WHEN WE TALK TO HIM.
Set your mind on Him and meditate on Him and all He has done for you.
There are many simple ways to keep our mind on God. I promise you will find; it is well worth the effort. Remember, as we keep our mind on Him – peace will saturate us – it is His promise – lay hold of it today.
