Have you ever wondered if God still speaks through dreams?

If you have, the answer is yes.

Joel 2:28 says, And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.

Yes, God continues to speak through dreams. In the past few days, numerous people have come to me to share the dreams God is giving during this season.

He is actively speaking through dreams in this time of transition.

How about you? Are you experiencing unusual dreams from God during this season? I know I am, as well as others around me.

Still, it’s not always easy to understand what God is saying or showing us from dreams. There are resources that can assist in that, in addition to first praying and seeking God for insight.

Personally, I have used two books to help me discern dreams over the years.

• Understanding the Dreams You Dream by Ira Milligan
• Interpreting the Symbols and Types by Kevin J. Conner

Both these resources have been invaluable to me.

If dreams interest you, I highly recommend you purchase these books. And if you are interested in knowing more about how God speaks through dreams and visions, here are some tips that may help. They will at least give you greater insight of why God gives us dreams.

He Reveals Our Heart Through Dreams

Over the years God has used dreams to reveal the hidden things in my heart. Issues that I wasn’t aware were even present. God used these dreams to show me things I obviously didn’t want to see and the dreams then challenged me to make the needed adjustments in my own life.

He Uses Dreams When We Become Too Busy

Sometimes God is speaking to us and we are too busy to hear what He is saying. If we continue to fail to listen, He will often speak to us through dreams. We are asleep, He has us right where He wants us, we have no choice but to listen in our dreams.

He Uses Them to Bring Instruction

For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction. (Job 33:14-16)

God not only opens our ears, but also gives instruction through our dreams. Perhaps we have been diligently praying to God for answers, and we can’t seem to find the answers we need. Often times, He will give us the instruction we need in a dream. We can learn through dreams; we just have to be open to hearing His instruction during the night season.

Remember when Joseph interpreted the dreams of famine? God gave him a strategy to prosper during times of severe famine. Not only survive but thrive. He can do the same with you in dreams.

God Gives Warning Dreams

Job 33:14-18 says, For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while they slumber on their beds, then he opens the ears of men and terrifies them with warnings, that he may turn man aside from his deed and conceal pride from a man; he keeps back his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword.

Over the years, God has given me several dreams to warn of something that was to come. Even when they involved other people.

I recall a dream many years ago. It was about a family member. In my dream they were planning a trip out of town. Their intention was to meet another man, other than their husband.

I called this person the next day and shared my dream, never imagining it was on point. I later learned they did have an out-of-town trip planned without good intentions. This dream saved them from doing something that could destroy their marriage.

Yes, God still speaks in dreams. And He is speaking through them right now. Be alert. Listen for His voice, especially during the night season. He is giving us insight and instruction through dreams – may we have ears to hear.

Meditate on this:
I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. Numbers 12:6
