A Time of Gathering

As I drove up the mountain, my thoughts were on the season we are in, both in the natural and spiritually.
God has been continually talking to me about harvest. I do believe we are in the midst of harvest. I believe it is here now.
As I was pondering this truth, I heard something in my spirit.
Harvest is such a short, short season.
Each year, the sower, must prepare his field. Plant his seed. Nurture and water his seed. Keep all the weeds and pests out of his garden. That process seems to go on for weeks and weeks. And it does. However, when harvest comes, it comes in fast and only lasts a short period of time.
For a few precious weeks, we have the opportunity to gather the harvest. We have a small amount of time to pick, clean, can and freeze. For the harvest has finally come. If you miss the timing of it, you will not have food for the winter. You will have to wait for the next season of sowing and plant again.
So it is with harvest time in God. The harvest of what we have been praying for. The harvest of what we have sown for. It too, may just be for a short season. A time when your harvest is ripe and ready. A time when it must be gathered in. If you don’t gather it in, you will miss your season.
This is what God spoke to me a few days ago. Harvest is such a short, short season.
From gardening, I knew this to be true.
For that reason, I became quiet before the Lord as He began to speak to me about this season of harvest we are in.
I was walking through my house as He spoke to my heart and said, “Harvest, it is a time of gathering.”
My spirit leapt within me as I remembered a dream I had this very week. I had mediated on the dream all week, praying that God would show me what He was saying in my dream.
In my dream, my daughter, Breanne gave me two eggs. I had one egg in each hand. I was preparing a meal in my kitchen. As I started to crack one of the eggs, it moved in my hand. Shocked, I shouted, “Bre, come here!” She ran into the kitchen.
“Feel this egg!” I exclaimed, “there is something in it!” She took the egg in her hand. When she did, out popped a chicken. A full-grown chicken!
Excited, I continued, “here, there is another one just like it!” I handed her the second egg. Again, a full grown, beautiful, well-fed chicken came out of the egg.
That was the end of my dream.
A day or so went by. I continued to think about this dream. I understood something was being birthed. I knew when it was birthed it would be complete and whole, just like the full-grown chickens. I also understood the two chickens represented double blessing. Still, there was parts of it I didn’t quite understand.
I sought the Lord about it and He led me to a book. I looked up the symbolic meaning of a hen. It said, one who gathers.
This tied in with what God was showing me about harvest. It is a time of gathering. We are the ones who must gather!
Proverbs 6:8 says; Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.
Proverbs 10:5 says; He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
Finally, Proverbs 13:11 says; Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase.
Therefore, we see in both the natural and the spiritual, gathering is a vital part of harvest. If there is harvest in the field, we should not have to be told to gather, it should be instinct…as with the ant.
If we don’t gather…during harvest time…harvest time will pass, and we will have to wait for another season.
The time of gathering our harvest is here! Harvest is here now!
How do we do gather? With the words of our mouth. With HIS word coming out of our mouth!
In the book of Genesis, God spoke our world into existence. Jesus spoke to Lazarus and he came forth.
Jesus told us in Mark 11:23, to speak to the mountain and it would obey us. He said, if we believe and speak, we will have what we say.
Proverbs 18:21 teaches us that life and death are in the power of our tongue. AND. We will eat the fruit of our words!
2 Corinthians 4:13 says, I believed, therefore I spoke.
It’s time to gather in our harvest with the power of our tongue!
Harvest is such a short, short season. And that season is here, now. It’s a time of gathering. Don’t let this harvest pass you by. Will you be one who gathers?
