In the past few months I have seen an awakening of prayer like never before. What an exciting time we are living in. Things happen when we pray…keep praying!
In recent days I have written to you about being able to sleep during the storms. I still believe it is important to have peace and be able to sleep through storms, however, a couple nights ago I found that sometimes we sleep through storms and sometimes we need to pray through storms.
Ecclesiastes 3 says; ‘To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to gain, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.’
A few nights ago I was sound asleep when God woke me up and told me to pray. He told me to pray over my house and property, my daughters house and property, as well as her family. He told me to pray over my Mom’s house and property and over her, personally.
I do not have a television at my home, but I knew we were expecting storms in our area so I began to pray. I pled the blood of Jesus over everyone and their property, I assigned angels to go and stand guard, I prayed every scripture I could think of over all God had put on my heart.
After I prayed I tried to go back to sleep, but He wouldn’t allow it so I continued praying until 1:35am. Finally He said ‘okay, you can stop now.’ I slept until around 4am when He woke me again to pray. I prayed the rest of the morning.
When 6am arrived I called my Mom to check on her. She told me she was fine, nothing had been damaged on her property. Then she proceeded to tell me about all the tornados that had come through and hit all around us. Many buildings and homes were destroyed, people lost their lives, it was sad to hear. I knew at that moment why God had me praying so diligently. You see, the worst tornados hit our area at 1:30 am, just moments before I was allowed to go to sleep.
Schools were closed because of the storms, it was really bad. Later when I spoke with Breanne she said all was well at her house, she said ‘the tarp didn’t even move off the hay.’ God is so faithful!
I shared all that to say this; there is a time to sleep through the storm and then there is a time to pray through the storm.
This reminds me of King David, before he went to battle, any battle, he first sought the Lord. If God told him to fight, he fought. If God didn’t tell him to move forward and fight, he didn’t. He never assumed what he was supposed to do, he always let God lead him.
We must do the same thing. If you find yourself in a storm today, seek the Lord. Ask Him if you should pray through this storm or simply rest in Him. There is a time for everything, we have to seek Him for direction, and He will be faithful to give it to us.
If God has you pray through the storm, you must still have peace. That night I knew I had to pray, however, I was not anxious at all, I was not disturbed one bit, I was praying in peace and assurance, knowing He is a good and faithful God and He would honor His word to me. Therefore, if you are praying through a storm, pray in peace and assurance of His faithfulness, don’t pray out of fear or distress, always pray in faith.
There is a time for everything…let’s remember to always seek God for what He would have us do.
