Before every reaction there is first an action.

This is what God spoke to me this morning as I was studying the book of Philippians.

I want to talk with you this morning about a very familiar scripture from the Amplified Bible.  It is found in Philippians 4:19.

And my God will liberally supply, fill until full, your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

This is one of our go to scriptures!  Most, if not all of us, pray this scripture over ourselves on a daily basis.  It is the truth of the word of God.  Our God shall supply all our needs.  I am so thankful for that aren’t you?

Now, let’s back up a little bit.  Let’s look at verses 15-18.

And you Philippians know that in the early days of preaching the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of, giving and receiving except you alone; for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. Not that I seek the gift itself, but I do seek the profit which increases to your heavenly account, the blessing which is accumulating for you. But I have received everything in full and more; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. They are the fragrant aroma of an offering, an acceptable sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights.

You see, we cannot claim the promise for ourselves, without first meeting the requirement.

Yes, God supplies our needs.  However, we must first obey the word of God concerning our finances.

Luke 6:38, in the Amplified Bible says; Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over, with no space left for more. For with the standard of measurement you use, when you do good to others, it will be measured to you in return.

I love this scripture and I love that is says with no space left for more!  Are you there yet?  Where there is no space left for more?  I know I am not.  This place comes as we continue to give to God and to His work.

Therefore, I will continue to give liberally as the Lord leads me.  I will sow and sow knowing my heavenly account is increasing.  I will give, cheerfully, knowing a blessing is accumulating on my behalf.

Friends, we all want God to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.  And we have a right to that…as we obey His word.

I think it is interesting that the writer shared that no church gave to him other than the one.  Oh my, how sad is that.  But thank God that there is always the one.

Not everyone will receive the promise of God supplying all their needs. Why?  Not everyone will give to the work of the Lord.  It is in giving that we receive.

Before every reaction there must first be an action.  The action is up to us.  The reaction comes from God alone.

Sometimes the blood of Jesus alone will qualify us for the promise.  Sometimes the stripes He took for us will qualify us for the promise.  Sometimes the word of God alone will qualify us for the promise.  And sometimes, an action on our part must take place before we qualify for the promise.

Ask God to show you what qualifies you for the promise.  Ask Him to show you in His word.  He is faithful, He will show you.  And as you act, He will certainly react according to His word. Before there can be a reaction, there must first be an action.

Meditate on this:

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.  2 Corinthians 9:8
