Years ago, a precious friend of mine, Ms. Ronnie Burch, gave me a scripture that she said was from God. It is found in 2 Corinthians 9:5-8.
2 Corinthians 9:5-8 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
That is why I thought it necessary to urge these brethren to go to you before I do and make arrangements in advance for this bountiful, promised gift of yours, so that it may be ready, not as an extortion [wrung out of you] but as a generous and willing gift. [Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings. Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving]. And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].
Over the weekend, I was listening to a minister preaching on this scripture. He shared how the writer was not speaking to everyone – but to a specific group. He was speaking to the generous givers – they are the ones who qualify for this promise of abundance from God. This applies to YOU! You qualify. Not everyone does – but givers…they do.
I wanted to remind you of this today. It’s so easy, and many do it, to pick out a scripture of the Bible and begin to proclaim it over ourselves – but we must also be careful to make sure we qualify for the fulfillment of the promise.
From the beginning of the Bible, God says, “if you do this – or if you obey this – I will do this.” It’s simply how it works – we REAP what we SOW. That refers to money, but it also refers to much more. In life, if we sow kindness, we reap kindness and so forth.
I want to share a testimony with you. Most of you are familiar with Kelita – she has worked for our ministry for many years now. She is a great blessing to us. She and I have walked through many seasons together.
At the beginning of this year, God put in Kelita’s heart to believe Him to pay her vehicle off this year. In January, she owed over $11,000 on her vehicle. She began to believe God and she began to sow seeds toward it. You may recall my teaching on Priming the Pump? Kelita continually primed the pump. It has been only 90 days…and she now owes a little over $6,000. God has done wonderful things for her, and she is seeing her desire come to pass, quicker than she thought.
As unexpected money came in, Kelita didn’t spend it. She tithed and gave from it, then she applied it to her vehicle. She has been faithful with what God has sent her and He is making all grace abound toward her. I know He will complete what He started with Kelita and pay her car in full.
I wanted you to see what is happening THIS YEAR as we sow and give. As we believe God for debt cancellation – He is making a way where there seems to be no way. Kelita qualified for His abundance, as do YOU. Every single time she or I have primed the pump, so to speak, we are seeing the hand of God move on our behalf…but we have had to keep the momentum going and keep the pump primed.
God is wanting to do the same for you! What are you believing for this year? This month? What would you LOVE to see God fulfill in April? Get your faith up! God is doing amazing things! Raise your hopes and declare your outcome! God is faithful – He will do exactly what He said He would do – we are seeing it! Not just declaring it but seeing it. Jump in the River, the water is stirring – jump in and get your miracle this month.
As you sow your seed this month – don’t do it flippantly, do it with purpose.
Tell God what you are sowing for – declare what you are priming the pump for – then sow your seed and water it daily. Let momentum begin to build for you just as it has for Kelita. You will see results, just as she has. Don’t settle for less than fulfillment. It’s Gods good pleasure to give YOU the Kingdom – take it today.
