I often write about pressure and how it is much like the pressure a woman feels when she is giving birth, when she is trying to birth something into this world, the pressure is usually great. But that is not what I want to talk about today.
The other day I received an email from a friend and she shared a different perspective of pressure with me. As I stated earlier, I have always talked about pressure from the mother’s perspective, but can you imagine what the pressure is like from a baby’s point of view?
Think about it, he or she has spent 9 months safe in its Mommy’s tummy. It is a small place, of course, but it is a safe and comfortable place as well. That baby has grown somewhat and as he did there was less room to grow, but that’s okay, he is still cozy and safe. He really likes it here. Then labor pains begin.
Although I have never thought of it, it must be very frightening for that baby. He has never felt that type of pressure and pushing before. Never before in his entire life has there been anything trying to push him out of his safe place. He is surely wondering what is going on here and hoping this tremendous pressure will stop, but it doesn’t stop, it just keeps getting worse.
The pressure keeps getting stronger and stronger, working hard to push this little life out of this safe and comfortable place…finally that baby is born. He is no longer in his comfortable place; he is brought out into a broad place…just like the Bible talks about. He is not even comfortable when he is first ‘home’ as we all know the first thing we hear is crying. This baby can’t imagine where he is now…then he looks around and sees the face of the voices he has been hearing for months…he is home.
Perhaps, just perhaps, the pressure you are feeling, the pressure I am feeling is not that we are the mom trying to birth something into the earth…perhaps we are the thing that is trying to be birthed. Is it possible that we could be the life that has been in a comfortable yet confined place as long as we can survive there? Is it possible that the pressure is coming from inside, pushing us to the other side, to a place where we can grow and increase without limitations? Could it be possible?
This is a great insight and I appreciate it being shared with me; I had to share it with you today. I believe God is taking us to new levels, I have been saying that for months. As we know, when a baby is inside its moms belly, it can only grow and increase within limits, it has to leave that environment before it can come to a place to grow without limits. It literally has to change atmospheres to get to a place of unlimited potential. It takes pressure, great pressure to come out of one place into another, perhaps that pressure isn’t from the enemy as you might have thought, and perhaps that pressure is from God, pushing you out of all your confinements and into your broad and wealthy place.
I often think that we pray big prayers and then when we start to experience pressure from every side we think it is coming from the enemy, that is not always so. If you have been praying that God would take you into a broad place, or a wealthy place, how did you think you would get there? If you were praying for increase without limits, did you realize that God would have to push you out of your current place with limits before you could enter into your desired place…the place without limits? When you pray for growth and increase you will have to come out into a new place…a new environment…and a new atmosphere.
If you have been feeling pressure, be excited! Instead of fighting the pressure, if that pressure is from God, work with it, come out into your broad place and enjoy all the blessings of God, without limit. It’s a good place, a place without limits and boundaries, its home.
Prayer for today: Father, our ways are not Your ways, nor our thoughts Your thoughts. Help us to remember that, and to rightly discern the times and seasons we are in. Help us to know when You are stretching us so that we can contain more. Thank You that You are the God who is more than enough. Abundance is in Your nature, and we choose to embrace that abundance and we choose to work with the pressure of the current situation we are in. We trust You! In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!
