I don’t think I have ever dealt with as much discouragement as I have this week.  It’s not coming from the world, but from the body of Christ.

It’s coming from those who are strong in God.  Those who seek Him daily.

I understand.  I, myself, have had to refuse to watch the news.  Refuse to get on social media.  I have kept myself in God.  Why?

Because He promises us perfect peace…. but only when our mind is stayed upon Him.

In the days we are living in, we cannot look at what is going on around us and expect to remain in peace on any level.  We must remain completely in Him.

Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I want you to see two things from this scripture today.

First of all, He is the author AND finisher of our faith – what He started, He will finish.

Second, Jesus ended up exactly where God said He would.  Not one thing God said concerning Jesus failed to come to pass.  Nor will anything He has promised us will fail to come to pass.

Glance through the pages of the Bible.  God’s people always stood against odds.  And the odds were always against them.  However, not one time did God’s word fail to come to pass.

So, what do we do?

We do what David did.

1 Samuel 30:6 says, “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.”

The word ‘encouraged’ in this scripture means; to be strong, to bind, to fortify and be obstinate.

I love this word, obstinate.  It means to firmly or stubbornly adhere to one’s purpose, opinion, etc.; not yielding to argument, persuasion, or entreaty.

This is where we are today – and where we may have found ourselves many times in our life.

It is time to firmly, stubbornly, bind ourselves to God’s word and His promises and refuse to move.

The Bible says, “Having done all – stand.”

Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13)

The New Living Translation says it like this; “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”

To stand is defined as; to abide, to appoint, to hold up, or present.

It’s time for us to stand and stand firm.  To hold up God’s word.  To declare it.  And to abide in Him.

Friends do not come into agreement with anything you do not want to see happen.  Don’t come into agreement with the news media.  Stand firm.  Speak the word of God.  War with the prophecies that have been given to us.  Refuse to move off what God has said will be.  It is up to us to stand firm and refuse to dig up our seed with our words.  Our words are powerful, and they are more important now than ever before.  Watch the words that come out of your mouth.  If you can’t say something that aligns with what God has said, then say nothing at all.

Be encouraged.  God said we would have victory – victory we will have.  Stand firm.

Meditate on this;

For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.  Deuteronomy 20:4
