I was driving to take care of an errand, praying as I drove.
One of my prayer requests was about you – and what God wanted me to share with you today. He immediately spoke two words to me. Commanding peace.
Mark, chapter four came to mind.
On the same day, when evening had come, He (Jesus) said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!”
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Mark 4:35-39
They were going to the other side; Jesus had no doubt they would arrive, exactly where He desired. The disciples were not so sure. Especially when the storm arose. While Jesus rested, they were panicking. So much so that they accused Jesus of not caring what they were going through. 
Jesus stood up, rebuked the winds, and spoke peace to the storm. Then He asked this question; “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” (Verse 40)
While we may think it is amazing that Jesus did this, we must remember, we have the authority to do the same thing.
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
Jesus gave us authority to calm every storm in our life. He gave us the power to command peace.
The question is, are we daily using the power we have been given?
In this verse of scripture, peace, be still, means to close the mouth as with a muzzle. It also means to reduce to silence, to stop, to make still and quiet.
What storms are raging in your life today? What are you saying about them?
Are you saying, “I don’t know if I can make it through this” or “this storm is getting the best of me?” Or are you saying, “Peace, be still.”
Are you, like Jesus, commanding peace?
Job 22:28 says, “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.”
The word ‘thing’ is defined as word. We shall declare a word and it will be established in our life. I love that! God has given us, through His Word, many wonderful words to declare. As we declare them, in faith, He will cause them to be established in our life.
Today, if it appears there are storms all around you, I urge you to command peace. Declare and decree peace, be still, to every storm. Just like Jesus. After all, you have access to the same power and authority. Use it.
