Prayer is not complete until you have stopped and listened for His voice.

I heard a minister make this statement over the weekend. What a profound statement.

I began to think of how I would feel if Breanne came to me and said, ‘Mom, thanks for helping me yesterday and thanks for all you do for me, also I need this and this and this.’ And then she turned and walked away.

That would not be very pleasing to me.

Andrew Murray was quoted in saying, ‘prayer is not monologue, but dialogue. God’s voice in response to mine is its most essential part.’

I believe this to be true.

After hearing that statement and pondering on it a bit, I had to check my heart concerning my personal prayer times.

I ask myself ‘do you wait to hear His voice, do you wait for His response when you pray or do you simply give Him your list of requests and say amen?’

Prayer is a dialogue – not a monologue. Waiting for God’s voice is as important as making your requests known to Him.

Jeremiah 33:3 says; Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

Psalm 5:1-3 in the Amplified Bibles says it so well; Listen to my words, O Lord, consider my groaning and sighing. Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, for to You I pray. In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will prepare a prayer and a sacrifice for You and watch and wait, for You to speak to my heart.

I propose to you today – the waiting and listening for His heart is just as important as taking your needs to God.

The Bible shows us that great power is available when we pray. I know that to be true, I have seen this great power manifest in my life on many occasions. However, after thinking about this truth for the past couple days, I realized something. The quickest answers I have ever had to prayer is when I pray and God gives me instruction and I obey.

Could it be that we are missing an important link when we pray and walk away instead of praying and listening for His voice?
John 10 declares; My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

How can you tell if you are His sheep? If you hear His voice. Not if you pray daily, but if you hear His voice.

Prayer is a dialogue. It is a conversation between two people, not a speech by one person.

Don’t allow your prayer life to become a monologue, make sure it remains a dialogue between you and God. Call upon Him…He will answer you, just as the word of God says.

Take time to listen for His voice. Take time to listen for His answer to your prayer. Gods voice in response to your prayer is the most important part…listen for His response.

Prayer for today: Father, give us ears to hear you today, this we ask in Jesus name. Amen.

Insights:
If you want a downpour of His blessings, position yourself in a place of worship. If you want the enemy to stop his assault against you, PRAISE GOD and position yourself to stop the enemy in his tracks. If you want God to rebuke the devourer for you, tithe – that will put you in position for not only that but for the windows of heaven to open and pour out a blessing you can’t contain. Do you want to see His complete salvation in your life? Position yourself by refusing to move when you have done all you know to do.
This one thing I know: God is blessing His people this season, those who are in position for blessing – what are you in position for?
