As I was spending time in prayer a few night ago, God reminded me of something Brailee had once said to me.
Here is what happened several months ago…
The kids were spending the night with me, we had a fun afternoon and then it was bedtime. Brailee has this thing she does, probably because she doesn’t want to go to bed. She will come in my room at least three times and kiss me on both cheeks and the top of my head, then hug me and say, “I love you Nana! Goodnight.”
Little did I know, this night would be quite different.
I got ready for bed and laid down, fully prepared for Brailee to run into my room at least three times. She did not disappoint.
This night, just before she ran in my room, I was talking to God about some things that have been happening. I was also talking to Him about one thing that I had been praying about for years. This was forefront on my mind when Brailee burst into my room.
As always, she kissed me on each cheek, then on my forehead, then she hugged and said “Good Night, Nana! I love you!” I quickly responded, “I love you too baby.” She turned and started to run back into her room. Suddenly she stopped and turned around.
She looked me in the face and boldly said, “Nana, do not give up on anything, not one thing.”
Startled, I sat up in bed. “Brailee, why did you say that?” I asked. Just like a little child, she responded, “I don’t know.” She proceeded to jump back on my bed. She took her little hands and put them out in front of her as if she was pushing something. “You may have to push really hard.” Then she did her little hands like she was pulling on something and explained, “Or you may have to pull really hard.” She then jumped off my bed, exclaiming, “No matter what you have to do Nana, push really hard or pull really hard, do not give up on any one thing, okay?”
Those few precious moments were burned in my memory.
I was reminded of the words spoken over Samuel in 1 Samuel 3:19. The word of God said not one of his words fell to the ground, all came to pass. Everything God had spoken to him manifested.
I was also reminded of Habakkuk 2 which says, “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision the people perish.” One translation says where there is no vision the people let go.
We cannot let go. We must stand firm in the faith and continue to stand against all odds.
Romans 4:16-19 tells us, “Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed–God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.”
Abraham believed when there was no reason to believe. He didn’t move off what God said, even when it was absolutely impossible. When there was no way in the natural, he continued to hope. That is exactly what we must do as well. We must continue to hope against all odds and when things are seemingly impossible.
It is then that we must remember the God who calls those things that be not as though they were. God is OUR God and if He has said it, He will bring it to pass. We must do as Brailee said and refuse to let go of the promise. It doesn’t matter if the promise came through prophecy or through the Word of God.
It is vital at these times of standing in faith that we must be diligent to keep our heart right, our words right and continue to trust God. We serve a good and a faithful God, who will do exactly what He said He would do.
Do not let go of any thing the Lord has promised you. Hold fast to His promise. It may be for debt freedom. Or for the salvation of your children. Maybe you are standing in faith for healing for you or a loved one. Do not give up. Remember what God has said and stand firm. Push if you must. Pull if it is necessary – but don’t give up.
Meditate on this…
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
