One morning last week I was awakened by a text message. The text message was a scripture from a friend.
“So, let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 NLT
As I got out of bed, I was meditating on this scripture. It went over and over in my mind. As it did, I was reminded of such a time. A time when God showed up just in the nick of time.
It was several years ago. The ministry was just a couple years old. It had been growing to the point that we needed an office space. Our first office space. I waited for our monthly income to become stable enough to move forward and then we began looking for a building.
We searched for and found a building. The building would work well for us, but it needed some updating and painting. In the beginning, we had several people helping us, but they drifted away one by one, until it was down to me and one friend.
It took over a month to update the building. We began working on the building. As we did, the ministries finances came under severe attack.
The attack was so bad that after a few weeks, there was nothing left. I do mean, there was nothing left.
Suddenly, I found myself in the middle of painting and updating this building, preparing to move and yet, we were out of money. It was a desperate time. I went to bed at night praying and woke up praying.
After a few weeks of praying and seeing no answers, I was distraught. I was silently in despair. I knew enough to watch my words, but my hope was quickly fading. It was a couple days before we were to move in.
The friend who was helping me had been going through a financial setback as well. She had no money and was purchasing groceries on her credit card.
I remember our final day of painting like it was yesterday. She was distraught. I was distraught. We weren’t talking about it, we just kept doing what we knew to do. We continued to show up each day to paint and update the building.
I knew I could not leave a building half renovated for the owners. If we were not able to move in, I had to at least finish what I had started.
Friday came, the day we were to sign the lease and pay the rent. Money had not come into the ministry. My plan was to finish the building that day and let the owners know where I stood.
With a heavy heart, I arrived at the building and we began to paint. We were not talking, there were no words left. We painted in silence.
After a few moments I realized I had left something at home. I left to go and grab it. On the way back to the office I decided to go by the post office and get our mail. By this time my expectations were quite low. So much so that I didn’t even read the envelopes, I simply laid them on the desk.
I began to paint when an envelope caught my eye. It was a name I didn’t recognize. I opened it. In that envelope was enough money for the next few months, I was astounded.
God is so faithful! That day, we danced all over that building. It is a day that sticks in my mind to this moment. A day that declared the faithfulness of God. A day that says you will reap a harvest if you don’t give up!
At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
She and I didn’t give up, we continued to do all we knew to do. We continued painting and moving forward. We continued praying. When we weren’t even expecting it, God came through in a big way.
2 Timothy 2:13 says; when we are faith-less, He remains faithful, He cannot deny Himself. We were as faithful as we knew to be. But we were discouraged. Even in our discouragement, God remained faithful to His word.
That’s the faithfulness of our God. Friends, don’t stop doing good. Don’t stop doing what you know to do. Keep believing, keep giving, keep tithing, keep honoring God, keep praying, keep standing in faith. He is faithful and at just the right time, He will show up with a blessing you can’t contain.
I know you may think it is too late, I thought that too that day. I was wrong. At just the right time, He showed up and changed everything. I am telling you, we had nothing left. One moment we had nothing, the next moment we had enough money for months ahead. That’s the faithfulness of God! He blessed beyond what I had asked or hoped. It’s just the way He does things.
I know this, we are in a time in God where He is blessing the faithful. Remain one of those. Be faithful to Him. Keep moving forward. Don’t stop. I know He will do for you what He did for us that day. He will bless you abundantly above all you can ask or think. At just the right time.
