I read this short word by Shelly Mathis the other day and it reminded me of another time to ‘not let up’ and that is what I want to share with you today. First, read the word below that I am referring to.

Don’t let up! You recognized the enemy’s work against you and went to war, and yet things seem to be worse than before. Rejoice, for this is evidence that the enemy is afraid of losing ground. This is not the time to let up, give up, or waver in uncertainty. Keep the pressure on by maintaining fearless confidence in Me – no matter how things look or feel. Determine to see the battle through to the end. Know absolutely that in Me you are victorious. Press on! S. Mathis

It is often a truth that when we start pressing into God for a particular thing it will appear that things are worse than they were to begin with. I especially see this in the area of finances. If we determine we will be faithful to tithe and give, for a short season, it may appear things are getting worse, not better, in those times it is good to remember that the enemy sees he is about to lose ground and he is fighting to keep his hold on your finances.

However, there is also another time that we should not lay down our sword. When I was first born again, I met this lady who was a true worshipper of God, I learned a great deal from her. One of the things she said to me early in our relationship was this; when it appears you have begun to win the battle, or even when it appears you have won the battle; don’t lay down your sword.

Many times over the past twenty five years this statement has come to mind. Why? Because what often happens is when we think we are in the end zone of the battle, we relax our sword, we stop confessing as much, we stop standing as firm, we relax our stance, often times the enemy will come out of nowhere with one last hit. We have to hold our stance, our steadfastness firmly to the very end if we are going to see the lasting results we desire to see.

Hebrews 10:35-36 says; do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised. (Amplified)

My word for you today is this; whether things appear worse or whether things appear better; do not lay down your sword until you see the full manifestation of what you are believing God for. Don’t let up for one moment. Stand, steadfast to the very end.

As you do that you will enjoy to the full all that was promised to you. Don’t quit too soon. Don’t let up too quickly. Stand firm and steadfast until God says it’s over and when He says it’s over….it is definitely over.

There are many things that belong to us through the cross of Christ. Many wonderful things, they are ours for the taking. However, we must lay hold of them; we have a real enemy that doesn’t want us walking in Kingdom Covenant blessings. But we have a God that is much greater than anything the enemy can throw our way. He is already defeated; we simply have to enforce that defeat. Stand steadfast for all that belongs to you and don’t let up until you have it all in your possession. To God Be the Glory!
