Breanne told me an interesting story yesterday that I just have to share with you. It was about one of her hens. She told me that when she went home a few days ago there was a snake in the chicken house. It was a huge snake. It had eaten all the eggs in the chicken house with the exception of one of the hen’s eggs.
Now Breanne is all country, even though she doesn’t know it yet, so she went in her house and got her gun to shoot the snake. Brandon was trying to convince her it was not a harmful snake, that it was there to keep harmful snakes away. All Breanne saw was that this snake was in her chicken house and she had no eggs. That’s my girl!
Anyway, there is this one hen that absolutely refused to get off her eggs and let the snake get them. Breanne said she remained on her eggs the entire time, while the snake was right in her face and while Breanne was trying to shoot the snake. This hen refused to allow the snake to eat her eggs – I gotta tell you, I don’t like chickens but I love this hen.
The Bible says in Ephesians 6:10-19; Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
Ephesians 4:27 says; give no place to the devil.
We are supposed to be just like Breanne’s hen. We are to stay on guard and hold our ground no matter what comes our way. We are not to let any devil intimidate us into handing over our promises.
We have to stay on guard against anything that would try to come and talk us out of our promises.
If we are standing in faith for healing, we can’t afford to listen to people talk negative about healing or try to convince us that God doesn’t heal today.
If we are standing in faith for a financial breakthrough, we can’t listen to people saying things like ‘tithing never worked for me’ or ‘I have served God all my life and I have never seen breakthrough.’ Don’t listen to stuff like that, guard your promises and guard your heart against negative talk.
It’s time we become just like that hen. We must lay hold of our promises and refuse to back off, even if the enemy is right in our face, we still stand our ground. That hen knew the only way she would see the fulfillment of what she had conceived was to sit there, in the very eye of the enemy, while he was waiting to eat everything she had given birth to, she refused to allow him to do that – so should we. We need tenacity, we need strong faith, we need to stand our ground, no matter what.
