Let me describe a scenario that most of us have experienced. We hear the Word of God concerning our situation and we began to declare that Word over our life. We stand firm on that Word knowing that it will come to pass. Full of faith, we stand. Suddenly it seems as if attacks are coming from every side. Then we wonder what we have done to cause such a thing. Every move we make seems to bring a residual attack – what happened?

Mark 4:15 tells us. “Satan comes IMMEDIATELY to take away the Word.” Aha.

The sower sows the word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble. Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred. (Mk 4:14-20)

These scriptures tell us exactly what happens, and what the enemy will attempt to do when we choose to take hold of a promise from God.

When it feels like the gates of hell were opened against you, the enemy has come to steal the Word you have sown in your heart. He intends to put so much pressure on you that you let go of that Word. As we read on in Mark 4, we find that when the devil comes to steal the Word, one of three things will happen to that Word and the person who has received it.

  1. Some will receive it with gladness and joy but have no root in them. If this happens when persecution comes, they will stumble and let go of that Word. These are those who can’t seem to hold onto the Word whether it is from the Bible or a prophetic word. They give up.

  1. Or they will receive the Word of God and endure for a while – standing firm on His promise. However, when the cares of this world or negative things get into their mind and heart, the Word is choked out, and it cannot bear fruit.

  1. BUT! There are ones when the Word is sown on good ground, they believe it, receive it and refuse to let it go. They hold fast to the Word of God. They don’t allow the enemy to steal it. They cast all their cares on God and refuse to allow negative talk to choke that Word. These will reap a harvest of the Word sown into their heart, knowing every Word of God has the power within itself to come to pass. This should be us!

Which will you be?

The point of decision arrives the moment the thief comes to steal the Word. It is then you must make a decision whether you are going to stumble and fall away, allow the cares of the world to choke the Word. Or stand on that Word and refuse to let it go, until it produces fruit, thirty, sixty or hundredfold.

We will all find ourselves in this place of decision at one time or another. Unfortunately, many of us have heard the Word and when the thief came, allowed him to steal that Word. Some of us have allowed the cares of the world to take over our lives and choke out the Word of God, causing it to be unfruitful. But there are some of us, who when the enemy came to steal the Word, stood firm, refused to back down. We have seen the fruit of God’s Word in our life.

How about you? Are you in this place today? Have you have stood in faith, and it appears worse instead of better? It appears that there is more turmoil, more lack, more sickness or more division. If that is where you are, it is a sure sign that you have hit something in the spirit and the enemy has set out to stop you. Don’t stop. Instead go full speed ahead. Hit him with your best shot. Continue to declare the end from the beginning. Continue to speak the Word of God only. Continue to tithe and give. Continue to sow seeds of faith. Continue to pray and fast. Continue and refuse to quit. If you do, you will see the Word of God produce fruit; some 30, some 60 and some a hundred-fold!

Remember he is fighting a battle he has already lost. The verdict was rendered at the cross. You are standing for a victory that has already been won. All you have to do is stand.  Stand and watch the Word produce a harvest. Know, my friend, without a doubt, there is enough power in that Word, spoken by God, to come to pass. Only believe.
