Today I received an email from one of our partners. It was a word from Marsha Burns from September 5th. Let me share it with you:
SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by MARSHA BURNS
September 5, 2019
Seeds of generosity that you sow at My behest will reap an extraordinary harvest of favor, grace, and prosperity. Give with an open heart and without expectation of gratitude or reciprocation. Be My hand extended and take no credit for yourself, says the Lord. Only then will you reap the benefits of kindness. Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
I looked up the word generous to find it means; liberal, bountiful, free to give, full, overflowing, and abundant.
Seeds of generosity sown at the request of God…these seeds will reap an extraordinary harvest of favor, grace and prosperity.
We all sow seeds every day. They can be financial seeds, but they can be other seeds as well. Seeds of mercy. Seeds of grace. Seeds of compassion. Seeds of forgiveness.
Today, I had an opportunity to sow seeds, generous seeds of compassion and mercy. Seeds that everyone around me declared were not necessary. And I must agree. Yet in the midst of it, I continued to pray. I continued to ask God to help me be generous and merciful with this person.
He empowered me to walk in love. He empowered me to forgive, forgive and forgive again. I am thankful for that.
In the middle of the challenging day I was having, this email came across my desk. I felt God was telling me to be generous and abundant with mercy and compassion. I was. I pray I continue to be.
I prayed that my heart would be open to God and His will for this person. I prayed that my heart would obey His word in this situation. And I prayed that I would expect nothing in return from this person, not even kindness.
Be His hand extended and expect nothing. That’s not always easy to do, is it?
No, it is not. However, at this moment we have a promise from the Lord.
If we are generous, we can’t expect anything from the recipient of our generosity. But we can expect something from God. We can expect to reap an extraordinary harvest of favor, grace, and prosperity.
Does it make it easier to endure? No, not really. However, I look ahead to the joy that is before me. I am expecting an extraordinary harvest of favor, grace and prosperity. The cost was great, financially great. And unexpected. But it is His hand extended. To God be all the glory!
Has God required you to be generous in some area? Has He told you to sow a generous seed? Has He requested you be His hand extended? If so, be quick to obey. And do it with joy. He is setting you up for a harvest…one that can only come from Him. An extraordinary harvest of favor, grace and mercy!
Meditate on this:
With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful. 2 Samuel 22:26.
