I came across a scripture this morning that simply jumped out at me. It is probably one of the most profound scriptures I have read lately.
It is found in Proverbs.
Proverbs 8:34-36 says; Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
The NIV says it this way; Listen to my instruction and be wise. Don’t ignore it. Joyful are those who listen to me, watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home! For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord. But those who miss me injure themselves. All who hate me love death. NIV
The Passion version says it like this; If you wait at wisdom’s doorway, longing to hear a word for every day, joy will break forth within you as you listen to what I’ll say. For the fountain of life pours into you every time you find me, and this is the secret of growing in the delight and the favor of the Lord. But those who stumble and miss me will be sorry they did! For ignoring what I have to say will bring harm to your own soul. Those who hate me are simply flirting with death.
Finally, the Amplified says it this way; Blessed, happy, prosperous, to be admired, is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts. For whoever finds me (Wisdom) finds life and obtains favor and grace from the Lord. But he who fails to find me or sins against me injures himself; all those who hate me love and court death.
There is great power and even life available to us when we daily seek the Lord. When we daily wait for Him to speak to us.
I shared all these different versions with you today because I felt each one gave an Insights in a different area of this set of scriptures.
Life and joy are ours as we daily seek direction and wisdom from God.
A fountain of life pours into us as we daily wait to hear from God and listen to His words.
Seeking God daily, daily waiting to hear from Him, is the very secret of growing in favor with God.
Blessed is the man who daily seeks God. Empowered to prosper and succeed is the main who daily waits to hear from God, who daily waits for wisdom from God.
I don’t know about you, but I want life pouring into every area of my life. I want life pouring into my physical body. I want life pouring into my family. I want life pouring into my finances. I want life pouring into our ministry. I want the Zoe life of God to be evident in my life and this scripture tells us how to obtain that promise, daily seek God, daily seek His wisdom.
When we find Him, we find life. It’s that simple. Seek God today, while He may be found. As you do, you will experience the life that Jesus died to give you.
