img_0052There are many things in the Bible that God tells us to do, mostly He tells us to do them for our own benefit and so that we can walk fully in His promises.

As I spent time with God yesterday I began to think about one thing in particular that He tells us to do, it is found in Psalm 103:2.

God tells us in this scripture to FORGET NOT HIS BENEFITS. First of all, what does the word benefits actually mean?

It means His recompense, His bountiful dealings and His ability to cause us to bear fruit and become fruitful. We are not to forget these things.

However, what I have found to be true is we often do forget. We begin to face resistance in our lives when the enemy comes attempting to hinder God’s blessings from manifesting and once we face that resistance, we often forget His benefits.

When we are in the heat of the battle, we often can’t see beyond the battle, we can’t see beyond the struggle and we, at times, lose sight of the benefit and the reward on the other side.

There is always a reward, or a benefit on the other side of every wall of resistance. It was even so for Jesus.

Hebrews 12:2 says; looking unto Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross.

Even Jesus had to remember the benefit of the other side of the cross. He couldn’t get His eyes on what He was enduring, instead He had to keep His eyes set on the joy that was to come after the cross…you are a part of that joy.

This scripture also says we are to ‘look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.’ In other words, see Him as our example of endurance. He is the Author – the one who started our faith and He is the Finisher – the one who will bring us through to the end…and God has a good end for us.

According to this scripture, we are to endure the test or trial and see the benefits that are before us, just as Jesus did.

If you are enduring symptoms and standing on the word of God for healing, your benefit will be a manifestation of healing…keep your eyes on that.

If you are sowing seeds for financial prosperity and standing on the word of God for the harvest off your seeds, then your benefit will be a harvest of financial prosperity…keep your eyes on that.

If you are standing in faith for the salvation and deliverance of your children or spouse, your benefit will be seeing them serving God and walking free from any and all bondage…keep your eyes on that.

In the midst of the challenge, don’t forget His benefits. Don’t forget that He is the author and the finisher of your faith – He started it and He will finish it. Don’t forget that He is faithful and good and His word never fails. Don’t forget that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Don’t forget that He is coming and His reward is with Him. Don’t forget that He has never once broken a promise. Forget Not His Benefits!
