Life by Decree
There is a scripture that I have been meditating in my heart this week that says ‘you will decree a thing and it will be established for you and light will shine on your ways.’ Job 22:28
Then I went about my morning. I visited a website and it had the same scripture for their heading. I knew God was speaking and throughout the day, He would instruct me to decree certain things – let me share some definitions I found with you.
To decree means to give an official order with the power of legislation. This decree is to be issued by someone in authority (us). We are to issue a decree with the authority given to us by God, through Christ.
To proclaim means to announce something publicly. We announce our decrees based on the word of God and we announce them to the enemies of our promises. We decree that God’s word has preeminence over what we can see with our eyes and we demand that change come based on the living word of God.
To declare is to begin a fierce campaign to get rid of something or to fight in earnest against something. Again, we do this with the word of God.
Decreeing, proclaiming and declaring is not something we do once and then stop, nor is it something we do every now and then. We begin to fiercely decree what God says about our situation and we don’t stop until we see the answer.
The Bible says to knock and keep on knocking and the door will open for us – that is what we must do, declare and keep on declaring until we see the word of God come to pass.
All those people you hear about who have obtained the promises of God have obtained them by force, for the Bible clearly says the violent take it by force.
It is time to force change, to force a shift in our lives and we do that by speaking – the same way God did – we create with the words of our mouth.
Many people pray and ask God to do something and leave it at that. But I believe it is time to stop asking God to do something He has already done in Christ. He has already healed us, He has already provided for us, He has already brought complete and ultimate victory – it was complete at the cross. It is there waiting on you. You should not be waiting on Him to move – He has done everything – He has done all He is going to do. He is waiting on you to obtain His promises. You have the power and authority to decree a thing and see it established.
He has given you all the tools needed to do that. He has given you every key to victory – and the main key is right below your nose.
Do you want things to change? Then begin to decree the change – and don’t let up until you see the fruit of your words. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:20-22 in the Message Bible: Words satisfy the mind as much as fruit does the stomach; good talk is as gratifying as a good harvest. Words kill, words give life; they are either poison or fruit – you choose.
Your life can change – you have the power to change it – that power is in your mouth. Cause your life to be a life decreed. Actually it already is, whatever you are walking in today is what you have spoken over your own life – if that needs to change, then change your words. Decree a thing (word) and it SHALL BE ESTABLISHED. God said it and it is so.
