I heard it from God first. The word generosity. I knew He was trying to teach me something and He did not disappoint – He continued throughout the day to lead me to scriptures of what He was saying.

For in the midst of an ordeal of severe tribulation, their abundance of joy and their depth of poverty together, have overflowed in wealth of lavish generosity on their part. For, as I can bear witness, they gave, according to their ability, yes and beyond their ability, and they did it voluntarily. 2 Corinthians 8:2-3

But a generous man devises generous things and by generosity he shall stand. Isaiah 32:8

Generosity brings prosperity, but withholding from charity brings poverty. Those who live to bless others will have blessings heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessings will be saturated with favor. Proverbs 11:24-25

I meditated on these scriptures. The following day I received an email from another ministry. It said, Let Kingdom Generosity Frame Your Season.

The minister went on to say; We all recognize the beauty of a generous act. Our challenge is to grow from engaging in the occasional act of giving to living from a generous heart.

I love that, living from a generous heart.

I believe that is what God is calling us up to. I say up to because most of us have already cultivated a life of giving. I love to give. I thank God that He has given me a heart to give. However, I believe He is calling us up higher, to not only give, but to cultivate a generous heart in our giving.

Giving is in our DNA. For God so loved the world that He gave.

If our heart and mind are to become bonded to His, we will live from a generous heart.

Years ago, I decided to live a life of continual and consistent giving. In doing so, I opened the door for the blessings of God. Year after year, I have seen His blessings increase in my life, as my giving remained consistent.

I believe as I make generous giving my new lifestyle, I will see an increase of His blessing. It’s His Word, it cannot fail. It says, “according to what I sow, I will reap.”

It reminds me of something I once read by Marsha Burns; Seeds of generosity that you sow at My behest will reap an extraordinary harvest of favor, grace, and prosperity. Give with an open heart and without expectation of gratitude or reciprocation. Be My hand extended.

We are God’s hands extended on this earth. I’ve said it a thousand times. Giving is a heart issue.

As I was studying generosity, I came across the Websters 1828 definition of generosity. It defines generosity as a quality of the heart and mind.

We must determine in our mind and our heart that we are going to live a life of generosity. Whether it be in money or in the way we treat others. We must choose to live from a generous heart.

That is my heart’s cry for each of us; May we have a generous heart in every area of our life and may the generosity of God overtake us.

This day, I choose to be generous. I choose to bless others and pour out blessings on those around me. On those who speak into my life. On those who minister to me. I choose a generous heart. How about you?
