I heard a story over the weekend that was so good, I must share it with you today.
The story was about a pilot. He was in the middle of a flight when he noticed a rat was in the plane, chewing through the electrical wiring of the plane. Panicked, the pilot thought ‘I have to land this plane and kill the rat before he eats through the wiring and we crash!’
That was his first thought.
His second thought was ‘I am not going to land this plane, I will simply go higher.’
Therefore, he took the plan up thousands of feet higher, he continued to rise, until he was at a level that was so high, the rat could not survive and it died at that high altitude. Problem solved.
When I heard this story, my spirit leapt within me. I knew this was a great revelation that will help me time and time again…help me to arise to a new place in God when circumstances tried to bring fear or pull me down. All I need to do it rise higher in God. It can do the same for you!
He had two choices. He could have landed the plane and fought with the rat until it was dead. This would have caused delays, not only for him but for everyone on that plane. Appointments would have been missed. Plans would have been aborted. It would have been chaos and then some.
Or he could go higher and the problem would take care of itself, which it did.
As I listened to this minister, I had to agree with him that many in the Body of Christ do the same thing. We spend all our time dealing with the rats and the things that are trying to stop us when all we need to do is go higher and God and allow Him to take care of these things.
Are you spending time fighting the rats on their level? Or, are you choosing to go higher in God and let things work out for your good, just as God has promised? You simply need to go higher.
Colossians 3:1-2 says; If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
If we are going to continually walk with Christ, walk as He walked then we are going to have to keep our thoughts on things above. We can’t allow the things that are not from God to keep our focus, or to keep us at a level we are not supposed to be at. If we do, we may face delays, missed appointment and aborted plans. We do NOT want that to happen.
Instead, we must keep our thoughts on the word of God and the plan of God for our life. In doing this, we will rise above the things that are trying to keep us down.
I am reminded of Isaiah 60:1 from the Amplified Bible which says; Arise from spiritual depression to a new life, shine be radiant with the glory and brilliance of the Lord; for your light has come, and the glory and brilliance of the Lord has risen upon you.
When we were born again, we were raised to a new life in Christ. We are not supposed to be under things that are not of God, we are supposed to arise and sit with Him in heavenly places!
Isaiah 55:8-9 says; For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Friends, God never said our thoughts couldn’t line up with His, He only said His thoughts were higher. We can discipline ourselves to come up higher in our thoughts. Don’t you remember, Jesus prayed that we would be One in Him as He is one in the Father? If we are one in Him, our thoughts will be higher and aligned with His. I don’t know about you, but that is MY goal.
This week, when rats get in your way, don’t fear, go up higher. When things try to pull you down, don’t allow them to, instead, go up higher. It is our prayer that your thoughts align this week with Gods thoughts and you see things from His perspective from this day forth. May it be so in your life.
Prayer for Today: Father, I thank you for this word, may I always remember to go up higher in you. When things try to bring fear or pull me down, Holy Spirit, remind me to go up higher in God. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen.
