God is Perfecting

As I was seeking the Lord about some things today, this scripture came to mind.

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. Psalm 138:8

I discovered this scripture many years ago when I was struggling to make a decision.

You see, sometimes we find ourselves in a situation and we don’t know quite what to do. Especially when things don’t seem to be going the way we thought they would.

Do we keep walking by faith? Do we stop what we are doing entirely? What do we do?

Knowing the word of God says that God will complete the work He has begun in us, I found myself asking if God really began this particular thing or did I begin it myself. And if He didn’t start it and I started it on my own, would He get me out of it.

I found my answer in this scripture. Let me explain.

There are two words that are spelled p-e-r-f-e-c-t in the Bible, each is pronounced different and have different meanings.

PER-fect refers to flawlessness or sinlessness. Per-FECT is a verb whose Bible definition means completion or termination. Therefore, when this verse says, “the Lord will per-FECT that which concerns you”, it is literally saying He will complete it or terminate it.

He will completely bring it to pass or remove it from your life, whichever lines up with His will for your life. Ahh, that was good news for me.

Every area of our life is in a state of development. Every day is a learning process. The Lord brings us along day by day according to His timing and plan. We are not spinning our wheels, regardless of how it feels. We are making progress. Even on those days when it doesn’t feel like we are. Isn’t it wonderful to know that whatever is going on in your life, God is perfecting those things that concerns you!

He is literally bringing it to pass or removing it from your life. The things that are good and pure and His will, He is completing those things. Those things that are not according to His will or plan for you, He is removing or terminating them. I love this scripture and I pray it often. It leaves me free to trust God when I don’t know which way to go.

I am so thankful it came to mind today when I, once again realized things were not going as planned. I was able to step back and see that this is just a bump in the road, my God is faithful. He will work this out. He will perfect all that concerns me. I can rest and remain at peace in this truth.

I don’t know what you are going through today – but I do know this. Your God is perfecting all that concerns you as you continue to trust in Him and His word. Let this scripture become a daily confession. Begin to declare… “GOD is perfecting all things that concern me and my family. I trust Him. He will not fail me.”

It’s the truth. Regardless of how it looks, God is, indeed, perfecting all things that concern you. Trust Him and walk in peace.
