I am remembering a dream that the Lord gave me several months ago. This dream has much to say, and I think of it from time to time.

Let me begin by sharing the dream with you and then I will expound on what has God shown me through this particular dream.

In my dream, I worked in a place where I knew all the babies that were being born. Similar to a hospital, but not a hospital.

People would bring me the items from their babies like blankets, stuffed animals and such. I would smile and rejoice with each happy mom and dad. Babies were being born all around me! It was quite amazing.

Then this one couple came and handed me a blanket, I took it from her and looked up at her, she was crying. Her husband said their baby had died and she was grieving. My heart went out to her. Day after day she would bring me an item from her baby. The first few times she was sad and grieving and my heart ached for her. However, after a few times that changed.

One day she brought something to me from her baby and literally threw it at me. She was so angry. From that day on, each time she came, she was angry and continued to become more and more angry.

A few days went by and I found myself in this large room where all the newborns were being kept, along with their parents. Someone handed me a baby and said the parents wouldn’t accept it. I thought it was so odd, I asked who the parents were and was told it was the couple that said their baby had died. They refused to believe it was still alive. They had tried to show them their baby was alive but they no longer believed it. I took this baby and I was trying to find someone who would take it because the parents were convinced it had died and wanted nothing else to do with it.
I woke up from this dream. As I went about my morning the Lord began to talk to me.

He said ‘many, many people believe their dreams, ministries, miracles and businesses have died. They perceive them as dead and they have become bitter and angry, I cannot work in that atmosphere.’

This dream wouldn’t leave my mind. I understood what God was saying, but it took me some time meditating and praying before I put it all together. Then one day as I was sitting at my desk, talking to the Lord about this dream, He said ‘root of bitterness.’ AHA!

Hebrews 12:15 says; looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble and by this many are defiled.

A root of bitterness defiles a person. What does that mean? The Webster’s 1828 dictionary explains it like this; a root of bitterness is a dangerous error, or schism, tending to draw persons to apostasy. Apostasy is defined as defection, and to depart.

In other words, a root of bitterness will produce an abandonment of what one has professed; a total desertion, or departure from one’s faith or religion.

This reminded me of Proverbs 29:18 which says ‘without a vision, the people perish.’ One translation says ‘they let go.’ That means when we no longer believe the promise of God, when we no longer keep it before our eyes and coming out our mouth, we will eventually let go of it.

In my dream, this couple was so convinced their dream/ baby had died that they let it go and it went to someone else. It went to someone else because they became bitter and angry and allowed that bitterness and anger to rule everything they were feeling and saying and doing.

I knew what God was showing me. He was saying ‘there are many people who have let go of their dream, or their promise because they are convinced it is dead – but it is NOT dead – it is as alive as it was the first moment it was conceived within them. They have allowed themselves to become bitter and that bitterness has produced a root of bitterness which is stopping me from working in their lives. They are so frustrated and angry that they can’t even perceive their promise any longer. They have departed from their faith for their promise. They have departed from their confession of faith. They have departed from believing it will ever happen. And if they continue to believe that lie, it will be given to another.’

Bitterness is a root which works on the inside. A person with a root of bitterness may still be attending church, going through the motions, however, on the inside they have let go of the promise and they have departed from their faith in God to manifest that promise. This opens the door to the enemy and we are plainly told in the word of God to give the devil NO place in our life, no place in our thoughts and no place in our heart. If you feel this is speaking to you, repent of any and all bitterness and ask God to remove the root of bitterness from your life once and for all.
Bitterness often comes when we are hurt or disappointed, especially over a long period of time. It’s something we all need to watch out for. We must refuse bitterness and anger and continue to trust in a God who cannot lie and will perform all the words He has spoken to us if we continue to trust Him, even if it looks impossible…especially if it looks impossible!

I don’t know about you but I would suggest we all pull out every dream we thought would never come to pass, and dust them off and put them before our eyes UNTIL we see the full manifestation of it. It is alive! God has said so. All my dreams are alive and so are yours. Do not let them go!
Listen to me. Babies, Miracles, Dreams and Promises are being birthed all around us – not somewhere in the future – NOW – do not let go of yours, the devil is a liar, it is alive and full of the power of God – lay hold of it now. It’s YOUR time to hold YOUR promise in YOUR hand, don’t believe anything different.
