Today, I was reminded of a writing I sent out in 2015.

A friend reminded me of it as she read yesterdays motivation. It goes well with yesterdays writing, therefore I want to visit it again, if I may.
At the moment she reminded me I was sitting on my sofa, praying about today’s motivation. As I read her email I knew this was what I needed to send out to you today, I hope it blesses you, it blessed me today.

I was once heard a story about a test that was being done with hearts, human hearts. Doctors and scientists were testing hearts outside the body, I think you will find this interesting, I know I did.

They held two beating hearts side by side and listened to their unique beats. Each heart had a different beat, a different rhythm. The thing that most struck me was this; when they allowed the two hearts to touch, after a few seconds their beats became the same – they were in unison, the same exact heartbeat. Two hearts beating as one!

As I listened to this story I heard the Lord say – ‘this is what happens when the heart of one of My people touch My heart, the beat becomes the same, it becomes ONE heartbeat’

I thought about this study for days after I read it. I literally could not get it off my mind. I have often prayed for God to show me ways that I can touch His heart – I want my heart to beat as one with His. I want to be one with Him, in complete unison with the heart of God.
Proverbs 23:26 says; give me your heart and let your eyes observe my ways.

If my heart beats with His rhythm I know I will always be in His perfect will, and in His perfect timing but how do our hearts touch to bring forth this unity of rhythm? I think there are many ways to touch the heart of God.

First, I know for a truth that worship touches the heart of God. Many times in worship I feel so close to God that it seems as if I am in Him and He is in me – we are beating as one. When we worship God, He draws near…the more we worship, the closer He draws, until you are literally one.

Psalms 95:6 says; ‘Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!’ and Psalms 99:5 declares; ‘Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!’ Worship should be part of our daily lives in Christ.

Another way of touching the heart of God is by loving His people, His creation. The Bible says whatever we do to the least of these, we do to God. When we show love to someone else we are literally showing love to God, that’s what His word says. In Matthew 25:40, we see Jesus says; ‘The King will answer and say to them, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it for Me.’ God is love and we should be walking love vessels. Love covers, love heals, love restores – we serve a loving God, He gave us unconditional love, we received it freely, we should also give it freely.

As I stated earlier, I had forgotten about this writing, until a friend reminded me. However, something happened this very week that now has such deeper meaning. I want to share that with you today.

Breanne buys her animal feed at a small, local, family-owned, place. Unfortunately, they can’t compete with the larger stores and are closing their family run business. We went in their store the other day to buy what we could, yes, even though I do not have animals, so that we could help in some small way.

I bought four 50 pound bags of bird seed. Now, I am set for life. It was the only thing I could use, so I bought it. As he rang up my purchase for one bag, I said ‘no, I will take four bags.’ He looked surprised and said ‘Praise the Lord!’

As we drove away Breanne said ‘I wish I could help more, this is his whole life and he hasn’t found a job yet.’ You see, his father started this business and now he has it and it is all he has ever known.

I can’t say the Lord told me to give him money, but I wanted to and Breanne wanted to, it is our heart to give and help others. I prayed about it several times, asking God ‘do you want me to give him this money?’ It was money out of my savings and it was a large amount. God would not say yes or no, but He did say, ‘it will touch MY heart.’ So I drove to the bank and we put the money in an envelope and dropped it off, without him knowing what was in the envelope.

I said all that to say this, I believe when we give, especially when it is a challenge to us, that it touches the heart of God.

Finally, I believe that trusting God, when it looks like we have absolutely no reason to trust, touches His heart. When He knows we are hurting and afraid yet we continue to declare what His word says right in the midst of it, I know that touches His heart.

One of my favorite passage of scriptures is found in Habakkuk 3; ‘Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, though the yield of the olive should fail and the fields produce no food, though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls, yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.’ To me, this describes a heart totally his – a heart that no matter what it sees or feels, it continues to trust in God.

Let’s look at this same scripture in the Amplified Bible: ‘Though the fig tree does not blossom, and there is no fruit on the vines, though the yield of the olive fails, and the fields produce no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold, and there are no cattle in the stalls, yet I will [choose to] rejoice in the Lord; I will [choose to] shout in exultation in the [victorious] God of my salvation!’ I want you to take special notice of the word ‘choose’ here – this person must choose to rejoice in God when His harvest appears delayed – we too must CHOOSE to continue to touch the heart of God even and especially when it appears things aren’t going our way – it is a choice, our choice. And we must always remember that our choices produce…either life or death…all choices produce something. Choose wisely.

There are many ways of touching the heart of God. Knowing that when two hearts touch, they begin to beat with the same rhythm is enough reason for me to begin to pray that my heart will touch His, how about you? Do you want your heart to beat as His? If so, then purpose today to touch the heart of God. May you have a heart that beats as one with our God.

Prayer for Today:
Father, I thank you that my hearts beats as one with your heart. Whatever adjustments need to take place to cause my heart to align with yours, I give you permission to make those adjustments. I thank you for helping me to cause my heart to please you at all times and for my heart to beat as one with yours. This I humbly ask, in Jesus name, Amen.
