One night I had a dream that seemed to last all night long. It wasn’t a dream of heavy revelation. It wasn’t an encounter with God. It was just a dream. A dream about normal occurrences in my day. It was a Day in the life of Kim dream.
Through the dream I would do normal daily things, like wash clothes. Or bake a pie. Or do something with my hair. It was so common. I woke up asking myself “What was the purpose of that one?”
God doesn’t waste time or dreams. If it is a God dream, we will know it.
The next day I went about my day. Several times I did the exact same thing I did in my dream. It would even feel the same way it felt in my dream. Each time I would think back to the dream from the night before. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to it. However, as the day continued, more and more I did the exact things that I had dreamed the night before.
As I sat studying, I did a gesture with my hair that I often do. It felt exactly, and I do mean exactly, as it did the night before in my dream. I could feel the same thing I felt in my dream. It was as if I was suddenly catapulted back in the dream, back into time. I realized that God was indeed speaking to me through that dream.
I stopped and laid down my pen and asked, “Okay God, what were You saying in my dream?”
He quickly responded to me and said, “I am already there, in all your tomorrow’s, I am already there.”
That dream quickly became one of my favorite dreams and a timely reminder of His faithfulness. He is already there. I love that! As I pondered this truth, I was reminded of one of His names.
I love the names of God. One of my favorites is Jehovah-Shammah. It means the Lord is there.
God is there. Our God is already in our tomorrow.
He already knows what our future looks like, our destiny is in His hands. His plans and desires for us are written in His heart.
We are told in Jeremiah 29:11 that Jehovah-Shammah says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”. NLT
THE LORD IS THERE!! The plans are already set in place.
You cannot be in your future now, but He can, and He is. You may be unable to control the future events of your life, but He is well able. Jehovah-Shammah will walk with you into whatever tomorrow holds. His love for you is great, He will not leave you nor forsake you. He is there, in your tomorrow and in my tomorrow. He simply desires that we trust Him.
What comfort that brings! He is walking with us day by day, but not only that. He has already gone before us.
Isaiah 45:2-3 says, “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars. “I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name….”
Oh yes! He is already in our tomorrow. He has gone ahead of us to make the rough places smooth. To shatter any door that would try to stop our advancement. He has gone before us to secure our treasures and hidden wealth. That is our God!
If we will continue to follow Him, we will walk in the smooth places. We will go through the right doors. Because He has made sure they are open for us. The key is to continue to follow closely after Him. And to continue to trust Him.
My friends, I do not know what your tomorrow holds, or mine. I do know, He is already there. Jehovah Shammah is already there. That gives me great peace. How about you?
