I was flipping through a magazine recently when a sentence caught my attention.

The headline read, “Nothing brings down a mountain like water.”

My thoughts immediately went to the Word of God.

Ephesian 5:26 talks about the washing of the water BY THE WORD. This is where my mind went.

As I continued to study, I found water is a symbol of God’s Word. This confirmed what I was already thinking. “If we need a mountain to move, the best way to cause it to come down, is by watering it daily with the Word of God.”

For the Word of God is living and active. Hebrews 4:12

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8

So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Matthew 24:35

As we see, the Word of God is full of power. It will not pass away, and it will produce whatever it was sent to produce. Jesus, Himself, told us how to move mountains…

So, Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.” Matthew 21:21

We speak the Word of God to the mountain, and it must move. It may not happen the first time we speak – but it will happen if we refuse to give up. Keep in mind, water doesn’t wash mountains away in an instant, it takes time. It takes consistent, drop after drop of water until that mountain is completely gone. It works the same way with mountains in our life – we must speak to them and continue to speak to them until they move. Just like the woman with the unjust judge.

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’” Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Luke 18:1-8

My friend, I don’t know what mountain is looming in your life today. But this I do know, God has given you a word, within His Word, to remove that mountain from your life. He has given scripture that pertains to whatever we may need. Salvation for our children. Restoration of family. Healing and wholeness for our body. Finances. Whatever you may think of, there is scripture to cover it.

Today, I encourage you to take the Word of God and begin to speak it to your mountain. Water that mountain with the Word of God until it crumbles before your eyes – it will – you have His word on it.
