From my heart…
This is Kelita. Kim mentions me from time to time in a motivation. I have a very small part in helping the ministry with posting motivations, and may I say it is my privilege! First, I want to say, she does not know I am writing this. It is on my heart and from the Lord. I will have to share it with her of course, but if it gets to you, know that I have twisted her arm! LOL The most humble woman I know and that’s one of the reasons I am thankful. Let me explain……
I have been purposing lately to be more mindful of being thankful. I say that because I am a thankful person but, I have found that if I am not mindful of it then I don’t express it as much as I should. So I have been thanking God for everyday things, big and small. From being thankful for my job and that I am not homeless in this cold weather, to being thankful for a parking space close to the store. I find the more I am thankful, the better I feel, the brighter my outlook and the easier I can face my day.
The Bible says1 Thessalonians 5:18 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
As I read this scripture, I can see why my attitude is good when I am thankful. It is the will of God for us. And I had never seen “the Revealer and Mediator of that will” before. But, that gives me a different perspective – the will of God – His desires to be carried out on the earth, is the Word of God and His Word is truth and forever settled. When I am thankful, day in and day out, in the good days and bad, I am fulfilling His purpose for me according to His will. How can He not bless me?
Thankful. The dictionary meaning is “conscious of benefit received, relieved, pleased, expressing gratitude.” Let me give you my history with A New Thing Ministries…..
In 2007, my family and I had been through a very difficult seven year journey and the season was ending at our church where my husband had been an elder and I had been the praise and worship leader. We helped start the church from a tent to a beautiful building. We loved the people, but life happened and we were tired, weary, and broken. On top of that, my oldest son left for college and I changed jobs. We had lots of changes and it was not the easiest to navigate these waters. God was very clear where we were to go next and we knew we needed a season of rest. And that is what happened. By the next year, we had stepped out a little in ministry, helping with the altar team and then I was asked to help with the ladies’ ministry. And then it happened. I was introduced to A New Thing Ministries and Kim Potter by my ministry leader and friend Angie.
She was a subscriber to Kim’s daily motivations and would often send them to me. They were always so thoughtful, rich and encouraging that I became a subscriber. Then, I couldn’t help but share them with others. Two years later, I became the women’s leader at my church and I also took the next step from receiving Kim’s daily emails to supporting her ministry and I have never looked back. As the women’s leader, I would glean from her teachings and be so encouraged. When I emailed the ministry for prayer, they were always so gracious to pray for me. I knew ANT was fertile ground and yielding ground! In 2014, I had Kim come and speak at our annual women’s conference and we were so blessed. It was awesome to finally meet the woman who was speaking into my life on a daily basis. The conference was powerful and lives were changed.
In January of 2015, I began doing my small part for the ministry. It wasn’t until I was organizing some past motivations that I realized the strength of this woman of God. Is she perfect? No. But, all the while that she was feeding me daily with her motivations…. part of 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, she was going through some of the most difficult times and challenges in her life – and although she might have mentioned a challenge here or there, I had NO idea the depth of difficulty she faced until I was organizing motivations and put two and two together. The Lord is faithful and she had proven it!
To walk through hell and still be able to minister and encourage others is no small feat. But, I know no other person who could have done any better and most would have collapsed. She has been instrumental in mending me, inspiring me, and encouraging me. Her walk with the Lord is as genuine as I have ever seen. I love how she is not quick to speak, but will weigh her words and speak with a presence and with wisdom. This woman has paid a dear price to be able to share with us five days a week, every month of the year.
So, I have said all of that to say this – I am thankful – grateful for Kim Potter and A New Thing Ministries. This ministry has blessed me and fed me for eight years now. And I am sure there are many who read her emails and have been just as blessed as I have. At my church, at Christmastime, we give a special offering to bless our pastors and I do it with a thankful heart because of what they bring to my life. So, I am going to ask ANT readers to do the same.
There are three things that come to mind. 1 – Kim loves to hear testimonies! So, if you have been blessed by her motivations, please send her an email and share it with her. That will bless her so much. 2 – Galatians 6: 6 says Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor. So, if Kim has blessed you, why not sow into her ministry a special Christmas blessing?. And/or 3 – consider becoming a monthly partner with A New Thing Ministries. I have been so blessed since I became a partner several years ago and I have never looked back.
Friends, partnering with Kim is a blessing to me. Serving ANT is a labor of love. The rewards I receive far out measure worldly worth. I have learned, been enriched and grown. There is no price tag for that. But, in life, appreciation is shown by words and gifts. And today, I am thankful for Kim and ANT and I am going to bless her with both. I hope you will join me!
