The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
The Passion Bible says it like this; The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss. That’s where he restores and revives my life. He opens before me pathways to God’s pleasure and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness so that I can bring honor to his name. Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near. You become my delicious feast even when my enemies dare to fight. You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit; you give me all I can drink of you until my heart overflows. So why would I fear the future? For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life. Then afterward, when my life is through, I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!
I was recently praying about a personal need, as I did, this verse came to mind. I, as with many of you, are quite familiar with Psalm 23. Most of us can quote it by heart. As I spoke the scripture out loud that morning, I felt the Lord gently speak to my heart concerning my prayer.
He said, “why reinforce what the devil says about you, give him no place.”
Ahhh. I knew what God was saying. If I am in a place where it appears there is lack in an area, I can agree with the word of God and enforce that truth. Or I can agree with the lack and reinforce what the devil is saying about it. It’s my choice.
Deuteronomy 30:19 says; I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
In every situation in life, we have a choice. And only we can choose. We must choose wisely.
Proverbs 18:21 says; Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
We see from this scripture the choice is often manifested in our words.
If I am crying to God and saying, “God, I don’t have enough for this situation” then I am coming into agreement with what the devil says and not what God’s word says.
His word says He is my Shepherd, I shall not lack. His word says My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. His word says Jesus became poor that I may thought His poverty be made rich. His word says I have all sufficiency at all times and in all situations.
If I am in agreement with what His word says, I must speak only what His word says.
How do I do that when it appears there is lack? It’s simple really. I declare and decree the word of God. I say with my mouth; God, you are my Shepherd, I have no lack, I shall never lack. You supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory through Christ Jesus. Jesus became poor that I might be made rich, therefore, I have all sufficiency at all times and in every situation. Thank you God, that I have more than enough.
You see, if life and death is in the power of the tongue, and it is…our words, yours and mine, will produce life or death. It is up to us. When we speak God’s word, we are speaking life into our situation. Those life filled words will produce the things you need, even if that thing is money.
Angels are listening to your words today and they harken to those words. If you are speaking life, they will be released to work on your behalf. If you are speaking death, they cannot assist in that. They minister for God and in Him is life only.
Today, I encourage you, do not reinforce what the devil is saying to you about your situation. Give him no place. Only reinforce the word of God and the power of God by declaring…this day, I shall not lack, I have more than enough for every situation. Release life into your situation with the words of your mouth.
“You are the unsinkable ship as long as you stay in God.” KP
