DSC_0046 The other day Breanne and I were discussing an accident that had occurred due to someone playing a particular video game as they drove. When she mentioned the name of the game I said ‘Bryson just told me about that game, he said he heard it was really fun and he wanted to play it.’ Breanne said ‘oh no, he is not playing that game, its getting people hurt.’

Of course, Bryson is 10 and doesn’t drive but his Mom is always very aware of what he does, especially on his electronics. She told me a little more about the game and I asked if Bryson knew all that, to which she replied ‘I don’t know.’ So I called Bryson into the living room.

I said ‘Breanne, tell Bryson about that game.’ She proceeded to tell him what she knew and he began to say ‘but Mom, I will just be doing it from home, I can’t get hurt.’ And she said ‘no, it does this and this and I don’t want you playing it or even checking it out.’ Bryson made one final comment, he said ‘if you say I don’t need to be doing it, that’s good enough for me, I won’t be doing it.’ I was amazed at the wisdom in that statement, I said ‘Bryson, great answer, buddy!’ He smiled and walked back into his room.

It caused me to think about the instructions in the Bible and how God tells us if we do this and that we will be blessed. However, he also tells us if we do the opposite we will be cursed. Sadly, many born again spirit-filled Christians are walking in the curse side instead of the blessing side, simply because they don’t want to do things God’s way.

I believe that God loves his children, I believe he proved that truth once and for all when he sent Jesus to the cross to die for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for our sickness, disease and lack. Every point of redemption was covered at the cross. Jesus totally and completely redeemed us, once and for all. Our part is to follow God’s word and God’s ways.

Everything you could ever possibly deal with is covered in the word of God. In other words, you will find every answer you could ever need in the word of God. His word is alive and full of power. His word, when applied, can change every aspect of your life. It may not happen quickly, or overnight, but if you continue to read his word, obey his word and walk in his word, it will change everything around you. It will change every situation it is applied to.

The Bible tells us to come to God as little children. Mark 10:15 says; “Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

This tells me that we have to believe God has our best interest at heart when he tells us to do things a certain way and like Bryson, we need to trust him enough to simply obey.

Jeremiah 29:11 says; “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

God’s thoughts toward us are for good and ONLY for good. All his instruction and leading is with wonderful intentions so that we will enjoy peace and an abundant future filled with hope. His instructions and principles are not to control us or to keep us from enjoying life. No, quite the opposite, they are so we will have a great life to fully enjoy. Jesus died that we might have and enjoy life, to the fullest and until it overflows!

God’s part is to reveal to us his ways. His part is to lead us and instruct us in the ways to have the abundant life Jesus died to give us. Our part is to say ‘God, if this is how you say I need to do it, then that is good enough for me.’ That, my friend, is an ultimate form of trust.
