And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
I read an article this past week about this scripture.
The minister was sharing a time when the door to his plane was stuck. He needed to leave for a meeting, but it would not open. No matter what they tried. Finally, with no other options, the pilot informed the minister of the problem. They could not leave for their destination if they door would not open. This was a problem, indeed.
The minister told the pilot he was on the way to the airport. On the ride there, he began to pray. As he prayed the scripture in Romans 8:28 came to his spirit.
He arrived at the airport. He said to the pilot, “this must work for our good.” The pilot agreed.
The man of God went on to ask two questions. He asked, “do we love God?” the pilot answered, “yes.” He then asked the pilot, “are we called according to His purpose?” Again, the pilot answered, “yes.” The minister said, “then according to the word of God, it must work for our good.” The next time they tried the door it opened immediately.
The simplicity of this truth captured my attention.
All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose.
To be called simply means to be invited into salvation. Hopefully, we have all answered yes to that call.
Do we love God? Most of us believe we do.
1 John 5:3 in the New Living Translation says; Loving God means keeping his commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.
Loving God means keeping His commandments. It means obeying His word. Do we love God?
If we keep Gods commandments and do what His word says, we have a promise. That promise is that everything, and I do mean everything. must work for our good.
That, my friend, is good news!
Did you realize whatever is going on in your life this day, must work for your good?
Perhaps you have been told you are out of a job. If you love God and are called, it must work for your good.
Perhaps your kids are going the wrong way. If you love God and are called, it MUST work for your good.
Maybe you have a large debt you need to pay. If you love God and are called, it has to work for your good. It has no other choice.
I don’t know what situation you are facing today. But this I do know. If you love God, if you are called according to His purpose, it simply must work for your good.
Begin to declare this powerful truth over every situation in your life. No matter how it looks. Declare “it is working for my good.” Why? Because God says so.
His word is truth and will prosper in the thing it is sent for. Send it into your situation today by declaring it is all working for your good. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Meditate on this:
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. John 14:1
