Just Keep Moving

I had a dream last night.  One I knew upon waking, was from God.  Even knowing that, it didn’t really make sense at the time.  At least I did not yet have the revelation of it.

A couple hours into my day, I received an email from a pastor friend.  While reading the words he had written me, I suddenly had insight into my dream.

My dream was simple.

I was driving down a highway.  It was pitch dark.  I could not see anything in front of me.  I checked my headlight switch, thinking my headlights weren’t on, but they were on bright.  I drove on in the dark.  I still could not see anything in front of me.  Again, I checked my lights, turning them off and then on again, only to find they were already on bright.  I did that several times in my dream.  Each time they were on as bright as they could go.

I woke up.

As I said, I knew it was from God, but I didn’t understand it at all.  At least not until I read that email – suddenly I knew what God was saying.

He was assuring me that even though it seemed I couldn’t see the road ahead; I was walking in the fullness of His light.

You see, recently I decided to go a certain direction.  I had and have total peace about it.  Yet, for the past couple weeks, I am hearing that still small voice say, “wait, hold steady, not yet.”

Suddenly I felt like I couldn’t see what was ahead of me.  I began to search my heart.  Am I going the right way?  Did I hear correctly?  Do I keep moving or stop entirely?

Today, through my dream, God is saying, keep going…you are walking in My light.  Trust me even when you can’t see what is ahead.  Trust me when it seems you can’t see what is in front of you.  Know that you are walking with me and I am the Light that is guiding you.

I don’t know about you, but when I hear clear direction from God, I go full speed ahead.

However, when I am not sure of what is ahead of me, I sometimes hesitate.  Sometimes I stop.  Today I believe God is telling us to keep moving.  Even when we can’t see what is ahead.  To trust Him in the journey.  Trust Him when it appears dark.  Trust Him and keep walking with Him.

Jeremiah 29:11 says; For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God knows His plans for us – they are good plans.  Plans for a good hope and a good future, filled with life…we can trust Him and His plan.

John 8:12 says; Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”

The Passion translation says it like this; Then Jesus said, “I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.”

I love this scripture!  Those who embrace Jesus and His word will always experience a life-giving light…which of course, is Jesus Himself.

Today I want to encourage you.  If you can’t see what is ahead, trust Jesus.  He is the life-giving light that is guiding you.  Even when you can’t see.  Even when you do not know what is ahead.  Trust Him and continue following Him.  He will not lead you astray.  He is the light.  He has a good plan for you.  Just keep moving.

Meditate on this:

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  2 Cor. 4:6
