This morning I want to remind you of a few things the Bible says about the word of God. First of all, we find in Psalm 18:30 that the word of God is proven. Proven means it has been demonstrated or verified without doubt. There is NO doubt the word of God is truth and will come to pass when it is applied to your situation.
Hebrews 11:3 says; “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Everything that we look around and see was made by the word of God. John 1 says; “In the beginning was the WORD, and the word was with God and the word was God”…verse 3 says; “All things were made through Him and without Him, nothing was made that was made.”
In other words, nothing is created apart from the word of God. Luke 8:11 says the seed is the word of God. Anything reproduced first begins with a seed, for us to create new things in our life it must first begin with a seed, which is the word of God.
If we need debt freedom, healing or health, restoration, whatever it is you or I have need of, it must first begin by planting the word of God into the situation – it is the seed that begins the process.
Most of us know this truth, however in the world we live in today I find that many people prefer their phone to their Bible. We listen to preaching on phones, ipads and computers. We look up scriptures online – I know, I do it all the time. Convenience has taken the place of the Bible in many instances.
Hebrews 4:12 says; For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Romans 10:17 says; So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
We know the power and proven truth in the word of God, but are we keeping that word before our eyes? Proverbs 4:20-22 says; “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.”
Yesterday I was reading the Believers Voice of Victory. Kenneth Copeland was talking about a time when he was standing in faith for healing. He had prayed and prayed and healing didn’t come. He sought the Lord as to what he was missing. The Lord said to him…’Kenneth, your eyes are a gateway through which the word enters your spirit. But you haven’t been using them. You’ve been relying on your memory and the memory of the word WON’T nourish your spirit any more than the memory of food will nourish your body.’
When I read that I thought ‘wow, I did not think of that.’
Yes, it is good to confess the word, to know the word and to pray the word, however, we can’t forget the importance of keeping the word before our eyes, going into the gateway of our spirit.
My question for you today is….are you attending to the word of God? Is it before your eyes and going into the midst of your heart on a daily basis? If not, make the correction today. You will be glad you did. There is proven power in the word of God – it is a creative force, make sure you are attending to it daily – it will absolutely change your life. For the word of God is truly life-changing!
