This morning I was thinking about how many pray in this manner… “God, if it be Your will, heal this person, or deliver this person…”
While I will agree, there are times it is necessary to pray ‘if it be Your will, God’ but there are many times that it is an incorrect prayer. When would that be? That would be when the will of God is known. In those times, it is not proper to pray in that manner, because we know the will of God.
The Word of God is the will of God. If you can find your situation in the Word of God – that is HIS WILL. We don’t have to wonder how God feels about most things – His desire for us, and for our nation, is found in the Bible.
These are things we must settle in our heart once and for all. Once they are settled, we must fill our mind and heart with the Word of God concerning these things.
3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
It is God’s desire that you and I prosper.
The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. Deuteronomy 28:12
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9
It is not God’s will for you to be in lack, in any area of your life. Refuse to believe anything different.
Furthermore, it is not God’s will for you and I to suffer sickness or disease. Jesus took our sickness at the cross. It is God’s will that you are in health. Not only that you receive healing, but that you walk in divine health.
Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you. Exodus 23:25
Surely, he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5
But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the LORD. Jeremiah 30:17
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
There are many more promises of God in His Word, however, these two I want you to settle in your heart if you have not already. God has declared His will concerning your prosperity and your health. Anything short of His promises is not from God. And we must resist it. Fight against it.
So, then, how do we walk in these things?
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
They are ALREADY yours – they were paid in full at the cross of Jesus Christ. They are yours for the taking – we take them through the Word of God. Seek God – seek His Word and begin to walk in all God has said is yours – it is yours for the taking – take it by force.
