Last week I talked with you about Thoughts & Mindsets. I shared with you how my reasoning was blocking what God was trying to get across to me.
Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
Our thoughts are important. The Bible makes this clear. Therefore, if our thoughts are not lining up with God’s Word or His will, something has to change. That something is us – our thoughts must change.
Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
2 Cor. 10:4-5 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
Taking thoughts that don’t line up with the Word of God captive is part of our weaponry. Casting down thoughts that are opposite of God’s Word is part of our artillery. It is a vital part. We simply can’t take old thought patterns into the new season God has for us.
God is calling us into a new place in Him. Old thoughts or reasoning’s cannot enter into this new place, we must release and let go of any old thought patterns that would hinder or delay us from entering into all God has for us.
We must let go of whatever tempts us to reason things out. We must lay hold of the mind of Christ. As the Bible says…we must LET this mind be in us…the mind of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16 says, “But we have the mind of Christ.”
To lay hold of one thing, we must let go of another thing.
It reminds me of Brailee and her blanket. My granddaughter Brailee is almost twelve now, but when she was six, she had a favorite blanket that she carried with her everywhere. We had hoped she would be over it by then, but she wasn’t.
One day we were going in a store to look at toys. Brailee was excited! As we got out of the vehicle, she grabbed her blanket. I said, “Brailee you can’t hold onto that blanket and look at toys at the same time. You can either take the blanket or get a toy, but you can’t do both.”
She was not happy, but she let go of the blanket to get a new toy. So, it is with us.
There are some old mindsets and thought patterns that we have carried with us for years – we should have let them go by now, but we didn’t. We can’t hold onto them and lay hold of the new at the same time – one will have to go.
This is what God has been saying to me lately; “Let go of old mindsets and thought patterns and reasoning’s…if you don’t, you can’t go to the new place in Me…if you do, we will go deeper.”
Me? I choose to let go of old mindsets and reasoning’s…and move into the NEW in GOD – how about you?
