I was listening to an online message over the weekend when God began to show me some things.
He showed me there was a couple things I had let go of, one in particular – and in the letting go – I limited God.
Psalm 78:41 tells us; Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
I love how the Passion Translation reads…
Again and again they limited God, preventing him from blessing them. Continually they turned back from him and provoked the Holy One of Israel! (Passion Translation)
Did you know we can limit God?
How do we do that?
According to scripture, by turning back or away from the promises of God and what He has said.
Hebrews 10:38 says, “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
As I began to mediate on these scriptures, God showed me places where I had drawn back.
To draw back means to move away from something usually because of fear or unbelief.
In my life, there was a prophetic word I had received over ten years ago that I had obviously moved away from. Drew back from. Why? My reasoning was because one person who gave it to me said it was linked to something I was doing at the time, and I was no longer involved in that project.
Yet, that same word had been given to me by two different people – therefore, according to scripture, it was established. It WAS God’s plan, then and now.
Thank God for His mercy.
Today I wanted to share these scriptures with you and ask you a question; Are there things God has promised you in times past that you have drawn away from? That you have moved away from because of doubt, unbelief or fear?
Even what you felt God told you about this year, 2020, have you drawn back from that due to the circumstances on the earth today?
The Bible is clear on two things; One, God has no pleasure in us when we draw back. Two, we limit Him from blessing us when we draw back.
I don’t know about you, but this reminder caused me to look deep inside my heart and find the areas I have drawn back in. I repented of those areas and declared and decreed I would again lay hold of those promises with passion and confidence.
God is resurrecting our desires. He is reminding us of the promises He has made us. He is making it clear that His word has not changed – not one bit. He wants us in a position where we do not limit Him any longer. A place where we remember, nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible with God. I choose to lay hold of those promises today and move forth. How about you?! I refuse to limit God another day.
Meditate on this:
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
