I shared a little with you on Friday about my friend who is in the hospital. I want to share another lesson that was made plain to me during this time.

First, let me go back a couple weeks ago. A couple weeks ago I heard an awesome teaching about unbelief and how we can have faith for something yet still have unbelief in that area. It was very insightful to me and still is as I continue to study this subject.

One of my latest prayers has been ‘God, I thank you that I am rid of ALL unbelief.’ It was no coincidence that this situation occurred while I was standing in faith to be rid of all unbelief.
You see, it is true that we can have ‘faith’ for something and still allow ‘unbelief’ to be in our mind. Our mind is exactly where the root of unbelief lies. It comes when we give the opposite of what we are standing in faith for attention in our thoughts.

If you are believing God for finances, you simply can’t allow your debt, bills or lack to have too much attention in your thought life – every time such a thought comes you must cast it down and declare the word of God over it.

2 Corinthians 10:5 says; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
If you are believing for healing, you can’t go online and research and meditate on the disease. You may want to be informed, but the thing that must have the most attention in your mind is what God and His word says about the subject.

So…I get to the hospital and see the state my friend is in. I can tell you this, there was a war going on in my mind. The only person I had ever seen at this point in sickness was my Dad, just before he passed away. My mind was indeed a battlefield.

The first thing I did was change the atmosphere in the room. It was full of discouragement and disease. I spoke to her daughter and asked if I could change the atmosphere, of course she agreed. I began to play worship music and worshipping God. In moments the atmosphere went from one of discouragement to one of worship and it remained that way for the remainder of the time I was there.
The next thing I did was pray in the spirit. I prayed in the spirit and read healing scriptures over her – all night long. I simply could not allow myself to look at what I was seeing but to look only to the word of God.

2 Corinthians 5:7 says; for we walk by faith, not by sight.

Of course, we should walk by faith on a daily basis and most of us do. However, there are times and there are situations when this scripture alone must be our solid ROCK. There are times in our life when we are going to have to look past what we see and stand on what we know to be true – that is faith – remember in our teaching Friday – faith is defined as a conviction of a truth. The word of God is truth and we must stand on that truth alone refusing to allow what we see or hear to enter into our mind.

If we allow what we see or hear to enter into our mind, we will develop unbelief. When we have faith for something and also have some unbelief in our mind, one will cancel out the other and faith will not work.

In those times, we must walk by faith alone – whatever we see, we must battle with the word of God – whatever we hear that doesn’t line up with God’s word – we must cast down that imagination and replace it with the word of God. The word of God alone will stand.

Isaiah 55:10-12 declares; “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and does not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands….

I love this scripture! Ask yourself this question. Can the rain fall on the ground without watering the earth? NO, absolutely not. Neither can His word be applied to a thing and return void – it WILL accomplish what it was sent for. Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!

Friends, it’s time to walk by faith and not by sight! Don’t allow unbelief in your mind – walk and think by faith alone. Faith alone is more than enough!
