As I opened my Bible the other day something caught my eye that I had written in the front of my Bible years ago.

I often write things in my Bible that impact me when I hear them, this was one of those.

It said, the amount of the word of God you have in you will be equal to the amount of the power of God you have working in your life.

We all want to have the power of God in our lives. We need it for our prayers to be effective. We need it in our daily walks. The power of God is something that is available to each and every one of us, but do we all walk in His power?

I would have to say no.

You may recall, at the beginning of this year, I shared with you something Keith Moore said on a teaching series I was listening to. He said if we had a major need in our life, the first thing he would recommend would be that we read at least 10 chapters of the Bible each day.

At first, I thought, ‘my word, that is a lot of reading’. However, I have listened to this man of God for many years and I trust his walk with God. I wanted a closer walk with God. I wanted to develop a stronger spirit, therefore I heeded his suggestion.

The first day I read ten chapters, it only took me 40 minutes. As I sat there reading, I thought ‘if I don’t have 40 minutes a day to develop a strong spirit, then something is very wrong.’

Each day I have read more and more of the word of God. It has become a habit and quite frankly, one I love. So much so that one day I didn’t stop reading for a long time. When I finished, I realized I had read thirty chapters. The word, the daily bread of the word, was becoming more and more a part of my life.

As it did, the power of that word began to become more and more evident in my life.

I didn’t even realize it, but as I read those words in my Bible, I realized I was walking, at this present moment, in that truth.

I have been putting more and more word in me on a daily basis. And, I am seeing the fruit of that word.

In the past couple weeks, I have seen more prayers answered than I have seen in a long time. Little things and big things.

My prayer life has changed. I have entered into a deeper place in prayer.

My worship has changed, it is deeper than before.

The atmosphere in my home has changed drastically.

And…my family around me is changing. They are more peaceful around me. And they want to be in my house as much as possible.

As I pondered on these things I realized, it all began when I committed to more time in the word of God. The Bible. Taking out my Bible and reading through the pages of His written word.

For me personally, no electronic device can take the place of my Bible…I prefer to get my Bible out, read His word and meditate on that word for the rest of the day…and it is changing things.

I love John, chapter 1.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Jesus was and is the Word of God. All things are made through Him. In HIM is life. In the Word is life, and I am seeing it.
That being said, of course…more word equals more power.

My friends, I know I have said this numerous times this year, it is because I want to see you walking in the fulness of the power of God. Take time to read your Bible. Commit to daily partake of the word of God. You don’t have to read ten chapters a day, but read some of the word each and every day.

As you do, you will notice, your life will begin to change for the better…more word equals more power. It equals more peace. It equals more faith. It equals more confidence in God.

More word, more power.
