We talked about Luke 17:6 yesterday, today I want to dig into it a little more, if I may.
So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”
God refers to faith as a mustard seed.
As with all seeds, they must be planted to grow. How then do we plant the seed of faith?
According to this scripture we plant it by saying or speaking.
Whatever you are believing God for will not manifest until you begin to speak it. That’s how we plant the seed of faith. Then we water it daily with the word of God and God will cause it to grow and produce whatever we send it for.
Did you know that mustard is one plant you cannot cross-pollinate? You cannot change it. It will be mustard regardless of what you do to try to alter it. It remains mustard.
Therefore, we see in this scripture exactly what Jesus is saying.
If you have faith that will not change under any circumstance, you can plant it by speaking it. As you plant it and continue to speak it, it will continue to grow, until it produces the harvest you are speaking.
Faith is not a fly by night thing, it is a way of life, or it should be. You cannot speak it one time and expect it to come to pass. It must become a part of you. Nor can you declare it in the morning and then dig it up in the afternoon by saying it isn’t working.
The word of God IS the will of God for your life, however it won’t happen automatically. The word of God must be planted and come to abide inside us to create the image or the promise we want to lay hold of.
Brother Norvel Hayes used to say to me, “If you can see it, you can have it.”
I took him at his word knowing this promise is backed up by the word of God. I knew if I could get that word or promise inside of me until I could see it with my spiritual eyes, it was mine.
It worked every single time I applied it.
I began by declaring and decreeing His word and promises over my life. I planted that seed of faith and continued to water it with the word of God. It grew and produced exactly what it was sent for, just as God promises.
God’s word does not lie. It does what it says it will every single time. It’s up to us to apply it. We must stand firm on it, regardless of circumstances. When we do that, we will see the fruit of His word manifest in our lives. It is, after all, the harvest of mustard seed faith.
Meditate on this:
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6
