Never Give Up

“Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.” ― Winston Churchill

What if I were to ask you ‘what are you praying for?’ Could you quickly give me a list of things you are praying for? Perhaps finances. Or maybe your children. Salvation for your family members. Peace in your marriage. I imagine the list would be quite long.

But what if I asked you to give me a list of the things you can’t go a day without thinking about? Would it be the same as your prayer list? Or would what you can’t live without differ from what you pray for?

This is something I have been meditating on since I read this quote. I too have many things on my prayer list. Things I am praying for. Things I am standing in faith for. However, the things I think about on a daily basis…that list is different. I only have a handful of those.

Those are the things that are in my heart continually. They are never far from my mind either. I imagine you have those as well.

I think of Abraham. God promised him a son. Abraham, as we know, was well past the age to have a son. Yet, Abraham believed God. Don’t you imagine there were other prayers or needs Abraham took to God during his fifteen year wait? Fifteen years! During that time, he must have prayed about other things. However, the one thing you see on his heart, the one thing he could not stop thinking about was this promise. God fulfilled that promise.

I think of Joseph. He certainly had many more prayer request during his time between the dream and the promise fulfilled. He was in trouble with the wife of the king. He was in prison for a long period of time. Yet the only promise he could not stop thinking about was the one God made him concerning his destiny.

What promise do you have that you think about daily? Which one never leaves your thoughts or mind? Do you see it? Hold on to that promise!
Never give up on the thing you can’t go a day without thinking about.

Jesus Himself said in Mark 10:27; all things are possible with God.

Galatians 6:9 says; Let us not become weary in doing good. For at the proper time, we will reap if we do not give up.
Proverbs 29:18 says; where there is no vision, the people perish.

I once did a study of different translations of this scripture to find one translation very interesting. It said those who have no revelation of a thing, let it go.

I think that is what we do if we what we are praying for is not a heart request. Perhaps it is something we wish for. Maybe it’s not something that is vital to the zoe life of God.

I love what Jacob said in Genesis 32:26.

Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will NOT LET YOU GO UNLESS YOU BLESS ME.”

Those things that are in your heart. Those things that you think of every single day. Those are just like this was with Jacob. Do not let go until you have them! Do let go until you see them manifest in your life.

Jacob wrestled with the angel of God that night, but he refused to let go until he was blessed. We have to do the same thing. We must refuse to let go until we receive our blessing. We must get the revelation of that thing deep in our heart and refuse to let it go. Never let go.

Kenneth Hagin called it bulldog faith. A bulldog, when it latches onto something, it will not let go. We have had bulldogs, this is a true statement. We must be the same. Latch on to the promise and refuse to let it go. But we don’t latch on unless it is something we really want or need.

What’s in your heart today? What is on your list of things you think about daily? THOSE are your promises, don’t let them go.

“Refuse to settle for less and press on until you have everything He has promised you and more.” – K Potter
