Many years ago, I was toiling and struggling trying to make something happen for a project.  In the midst of this, God spoke something profound to me.  Something that has been a guide for a long time.

“The way you attain a thing, is the way the thing must be maintained.”

In other words, if we gain something by toil, it must be maintained by toiling.  No one wants that – at least I know I don’t.  Therefore, over the years I have purposed to gain increase God’s way – according to His word, other than toil.

Over the years when I find myself toiling, I remind myself of the scripture found in Proverbs 10:22, in the Amplified Bible.

The blessing of the Lord—it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].

Since the Bible tells us that toiling will not bring increase, we must instead, seek to gain increase God’s way.

The following scriptures tell us how to do just that.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 1:2)

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God. (Deuteronomy 28)

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.  (Psalm 1:1-3)

The Bible is clear, success and increase begin one way – by seeking God and meditating on his word daily.

What is it you have need of today?  Health?  Peace?  Increase in your business? Finances?  It all begins with seeking God.  Seeking His kingdom.  Before we see success God’s way, we must first make sure our souls prosper.  How do we do that?  Again, through the word of God.  The more of his word that goes into our heart and mind, the more increase we will see.  Sure, we can toil day and night and build up our bank accounts or our businesses, but we will have to maintain it the same way – through toil – and that can only last so long.  If we do it God’s way and God brings the blessings into our life there will be no toiling.

If it is financial increase you need, God’s word covers that as well.

He who has a generous eye will be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor. (Proverbs 22:9)

He who gives to the poor will not lack, but he who hides his eyes will have many curses. (Proverbs 28:27)

Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; So, your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10)

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. (Malachi 3:10)

As we see, whether it is healing, peace, restoration or finances, God has a way for His people to increase, prosper and succeed – and that is His way – not by toiling.

Appoint My Days

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I will continue to be bold for Him.  I will live my life so that it brings honor to Him.
