Monday morning, even before my feet hit the floor, I was getting text and email messages about Monday’s writing. That tells me many people are experiencing the same thing.
The writing was about giants and promises.
It appears many of those around me are seeing giants in their land. They are facing giants.
These are not small annoyances, no! They are things like strokes, sickness that keeps them in bed for days and weeks, financial hits unlike anything they have ever known. There are, indeed, giants in the land.
“The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.” Numbers 14:7-9
We see from scripture that God knew there were giants in the land, yet, He told the children of Israel it was their land, to go in and possess it. Although we may not see literal giants in our land today, we are still facing a promised land, filled with giants…so to speak.
Our giants may be sickness, disease, lack, torment of mind, or many other things – but they are still giants. They are hoping we get our eyes on them and off God and fail to possess our promise.
Their promise was literal land, a land flowing with milk and honey. Our land is different…it includes all Jesus paid for at the cross.
Our promises may indeed, include land and homes. Our promises also include health, wholeness, healing, wealth, peace of mind, protection and so much more. And all our promises in God are yes and amen. Yes, and so be it.
If Jesus paid for it at the cross, it belongs to you. You have a blood-bought right to possess it.
However, when you begin to lay hold of it, you may very well encounter giants in the land. What you do from that point on will determine your outcome.
As we know, ten spies were afraid and said they would be devoured by the giants. They never entered the Promised Land.
The other two, said they could overcome because God was with them. They did enter their Promised Land.
As I said yesterday, some saw giants, some saw promise. Which will you see?
What did God say when He saw their reaction? Let’s look.
Numbers 14:11 says, Then the Lord said to Moses: “How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me?”
When we fail to face our giants head on and fight for our promise, God takes it as rejection. He sees it as unbelief.
That being said, I know many of us are weary – trust me, I get it. However, GOD IS OUR STRENGTH. The joy of the Lord is our strength. We CAN and must overcome. We cannot stop now, we are too close to our promise…we must press on.
These giants, they are our bread. They are food for us. In overcoming them, our promise will manifest. And we can overcome each and every one of them…how do I know? Because God is with us!
God has said it belongs to us and He is with us. Greater is He that is in us! Through Christ we are more than a conqueror. All things are possible to him who believes. With God nothing is impossible. That’s how I know.
It’s time my friend, face your giants. Defeat them…eat of them for they are your bread…and then lay hold of all God has for you.
Meditate on this:
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40:29
