This morning I found myself awake at three a.m., taking communion.
I think we can all agree there is a great deal of activity going on in the Spirit this year. For me, it is most evident after midnight, until around four in the morning.
This morning, as I prepared my communion elements, I was reminded of the power of communion. The love feast. Remembering what Jesus did at the cross. Reminding myself that He said, “It is finished.”
Partaking of communion is one of the tools God has given us against sickness and disease. But not only that – it is also a powerful tool against plans of the enemy.
When we take communion, we align ourselves with the body and blood of Jesus. In communion, we remember the fullness of what Jesus did at the cross. We receive the fullness into every area of our life.
Most people do not make taking communion in the privacy of their home a priority. However, in the season we are in, I believe it would be wisdom to make it a part of your life – on a regular basis.
Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of Me” in 1 Cor. 11:24.
The word communion itself means partnership, participation, intercourse, and fellowship. From the definition alone, we see the intimacy of communion. It is a time when we become ONE with Jesus and what He did at the cross.
It is also called the Cup of Blessing, which means the seal of the covenant. We understand how a seal works. It covers and protects what is inside. It lets nothing of the outside, in.
1 Corinthians 10:16 says, “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, it is not the communion of the body of Christ?”
What this scripture is saying is when we drink of the communion cup, whether you use grape juice or wine, you are drinking, becoming one with, fellowshipping with and becoming a partner with the blood of Christ.
When you eat the bread, you are becoming one with, fellowshipping with and becoming a partner with the body of Christ. When you do that, you become one with all He accomplished at the cross. You become partners with prosperity, healing, wholeness, soundness of mind and every other thing Jesus took back at the cross. You partner with ultimate victory!
And we remember Him. The One who purchased victory for us. We honor Him in communion. And all that was purchased at the cross is once again sealed for us. The seal is applied as we partake of communion.
For me personally, communion has often broken the hold of the enemy in my life when it seemed nothing else was working, especially where healing is concerned. However, I do not believe healing is why God led me to communion this morning. I believe it has more to do with what is going on in the world today and the attacks the enemy would like to release.
I believe God wants us to remember what was really accomplished at the cross. I believe He wants us to recall the words of Jesus, “It is finished.”
Communion is powerful. It brings us into the presence of God, of Jesus and Holy Spirit. We become one with Him as we fellowship with Him and remember what He purchased for us. We seal those blood bought blessings as we drink of the cup of communion.
Take some time out this week for communion, you and Jesus in oneness, there’s nothing else like it. And remember, it is not only for healing but for everything Jesus accomplished at the cross. Furthermore, pray about making it a part of your personal life – in the privacy of your home – it is life changing.
Meditate on this:
“Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:26-28Posted by
