pearlLast week I celebrated my birthday. For those of you who sent cards and gifts, thank you so very much! It was a blessed-beyond-measure day!

One of my greatest blessings came from my daughter. Weeks before my birthday she began prompting me to tell her something I would like to have for my birthday. I couldn’t think of a thing, but she wouldn’t give up. It’s not that there aren’t things I would love to have, however, I am quite content with what I do have.

After a lot of thinking I told her I would love to have a charm bracelet with a faith theme, in other words with charms that speak of my faith. She stopped asking and I expected a charm bracelet with a small cross on it…or something along those lines, I certainly didn’t expect what I found in the little box I opened.

I opened my first box and there was a charm bracelet. The next box held the charm. It was a little pearl in a shell. I looked at it for a moment and then I opened the note she had put inside. Breanne had written

‘this may seem like an odd choice, but I had great reasons! You see, a pearl is the most precious of stones. Pearls represent the word of God and the kingdom of heaven. The main reason I chose this for you is because…a pearl is made from an oyster that has been injured and endured more than most, but once it begins to heal, a pearl is made from the healed injury. You are a pearl! I love you, Bre.’

I must say this Mom’s heart was beyond blessed.

I was reminded of the scripture found in the New Testament about a pearl of a great price.

‘Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.’ Matthew 13:45-46

As I read this scripture, I decided to dig into the words a little bit and I am so glad I did. I found that ‘pearl’ means of great value, but it also means a WORD of great value. I rejoice in the truth that many of us have been given a word of great value from the Lord!

The word ‘price’ means very valuable which was no surprise but as I dug a little deeper I gained further insight from the Lord and His word.

The word ‘price’ comes from a root word spelled TIME. This really spoke to me. Often times we receive a word of great value, but there is a process in working it out. A process of time. Many will see that word of great value come to pass in time, however, some will not because they won’t remain faithful during the process of time.

The word ‘time’ comes from another root word, TINO. This word means recompense. Hebrews 10:35 says ‘Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward.’

Therefore we see from scripture that God gives His people a word of great value and as we walk out that word in the process of time and refuse to cast away our confidence we shall receive a great recompense of reward.

Just like the note Breanne gave me, many of us endure things we never think we would be able to endure. Many of us endure hurts and injuries that we would rather have not endured. However in the end, the hard places, the injuries simply become a pearl of great price….we become that pearl of great price in the kingdom of God.

Today, I believe we find ourselves in a pivotal time in God. A time where He is unveiling the pearls who have been created from this process. The process of receiving a word of great value and walking that word out in time. And…we are coming to the place of ‘great recompense of reward.’ I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for that time and I thank God that the time is now. The time of reward is now. The time of the unveiling of pearls has come. You who have endured and held your confidence firm in the midst of the process of time…your time has come. It is here! Praise the Lord God Almighty!
