Almost daily I receive an email or Facebook alert about something we need to pray about in the earth. These are alerts of dreams men and women of God have had that they believe to be warnings of the darkness that is coming upon the earth. Apart from God, many of these would be frightening.
I was thinking about this the other day just before I began to study out of the book of Isaiah. As I read through Isaiah I thought, ‘wow’ this sounds a lot like those dreams people are having.’ And while it didn’t sound encouraging, I kept reading.
Then I came to Isaiah 26:3 which says… “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Ahhh…now that’s better!
I know there is darkness covering the earth. I can see it as well as the next person. But I also know this; “for behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” Isaiah 60:2-3
I agree this is a time to press in with prayer but I don’t agree that it is a time to fear. God says when darkness comes that His glory will be seen upon you. He goes on to say that others will see that light of glory and come to you to find out what you have that they don’t have.
In the midst of all this, He promises us that He will keep us in perfect peace as long as our mind is stayed on Him and we trust in Him.
As I usually do, when reading this verse, I had to search out the meanings of a couple words…I wanted to know what perfect peace was. I looked up the word PERFECT and the word PEACE in this scripture only to find that they are both the same word…SHALOM. God is saying ‘I will give you SHALOM, SHALOM when you keep your mind on me.’
I know from previous study times that when God says something twice, it is established. You can find this truth over and over again in the bible. Therefore, God’s promise in the midst of the darkness is ‘if you keep your mind on me, I have established PEACE for you and it cannot be changed, it is a done deal.’
Wow, that is great news! Perfect peace belongs to us! Do you realize what that means? Shalom means… completeness, soundness, welfare, peace, safety, healthy, prosperity, tranquility and contentment.
So we see that darkness is covering the earth YET God has promised His people, who trust Him, completeness, peace, safety, prosperity and much more…which will we choose to believe? The Bible says in Proverbs 23:7; “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” I believe we will have which one we choose to believe, either fear in the midst of it, or the peace of God that passes understanding in the midst of it.
A friend shared something with me on Facebook that is profound and fits this teaching. It said ‘when the root is deep, there’s no reason to fear.’ Colossians 2:7 says “Let your roots grow deep into Him.” If your relationship with God is deep-rooted, you will not fear. You will believe the word of the Lord over the darkness.
As for me and my house, we also, will believe the word of the Lord. We will keep our mind stayed upon Him and trust in Him and receive that perfect peace He has already provided…how about you?
