I have had a scripture on my mind this week. It is found in Psalm 1:3

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bring forth fruit in its season. Whose leaf also do not wither and whatever he does shall prosper.

I have been thinking about this scripture because I have seen the evidence of it in many of our partners.

I can’t tell you how blessed I am to have the partners we have. They are strong, mature, God-loving people, who stand firm in the midst of storms. At least that is what I am seeing.

It’s true you never really know what is in a person until they go through a challenge.

How then do we become a strong, mature Christian who can stand in the midst of a storm?

Verse two in this Psalm tells us.

His delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law (word) he meditates day and night.

Remember back in January, February and March, when God kept saying, “PREPARE. PREPARE.”

None of us could have imagine what we were preparing for – yet He kept warning us. Many of us prepared the best way we knew how…spiritually. We got in the word. We prayed more. We confessed His word daily. The storm didn’t pass us by, but we have been able to stand during it.

While studying this verse, I came across another verse. It was almost the same thing in a different book. It is found in Jeremiah 17:7-8.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when the heat comes, but its leafs will be green. He will not be anxious in the year of drought nor will he cease from yielding fruit.

This scripture describes what I have witnessed firsthand in many of our partners.

They are prospering, even during this time, because they hope and trust in God. That hope, that trust, has not wavered. They planted their roots deep by the river. They are not walking in fear, they are continuing to bear fruit. They are not walking around wringing their hands during this time the world calls uncertain.

I have not even heard our partners speaking negatively. Granted, I am not with them daily. However, the ones I have talked to personally are holding steady, trusting in God. I am so proud to be partnered with you all.

This is what we are supposed to be. A light in the darkness. A tree, firmly rooted in God, standing tall against all odds. A beacon. An encouraging word in due season. One who lifts up their brother and sister.

It is easy to bear fruit when all is well, and the sun is shining bright. It is not so easy when we are in the midst of a challenge. The only ones that bear fruit during those times are the people who are firmly planted in God and His word.

Perhaps you don’t feel that you have stood strong during this time. You are still here. You are trusting God. You are reading His word. You are doing fine…just keep standing firm.

We are the good news. We are the trees planted by the rivers. We serve a God who can be trusted. A God who never lies. A God who will work out things for our good, as long as we continue to trust in Him.

May our light so shine that men and women see the manifested glory of God every time we walk into a store, or a room, or a home. May we bear fruit in all seasons, knowing we are firmly planted in the One who is faithful.

Meditate on this:

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. Psalm 52:8
