This week God has been bringing a scripture to my heart over and over again.
I have been meditating on it all week – I feel God is showing me revelation about this scripture, while at the same time, He is causing me to look back at the type of seeds I have sown in the past. Financial seeds – but not only financial seeds.
The scripture is found in the book of Psalms.
He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:6
The word, precious, in this scripture means; precious, a great cost or price, and to draw up from a deep place such as a well or deep trail.
In other words, a precious seed, at least this type of precious seed, is something that comes from a deep place.
As I meditated on this scripture, the first part that stayed with me was the part that says we go forth weeping…with our precious seed.
What type of seed would cause us to weep? What seed would be so costly and so deep that we would cry over it?
A precious seed is one that…
- We know what we went through to get it
- It hurts to sow it
- Takes faith it give it
These things are true – however, even so, we know the precious seed will accomplish something. How do we know? We know because of the word of God.
I began to think back to the seeds I have sown in the past. Some I have sown because someone had a need. Some I have sown because God told me to. Some I have sown because I want to be a generous giver. Then there is my precious seed.
That seed, the precious ones, come from a different place, a deeper place. These are the seeds that I labor over giving. These seeds are hard to come by – they are a sacrifice at the time of giving. These often hurt to sow and takes great faith to release it to God. Most times, it is a battle of the mind, knowing I need what is in my hand at the moment (even though it is usually not enough to meet the need).
However, the only way it will produce a harvest is if I give it or sow it.
Precious seed – we have all sown it. And the giving of precious seed has a unique promise.
The one who sows precious seed will, WITHOUT DOUBT, come again, rejoicing, with his sheaves with him.
The New Living Translation says; They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
The Message Bible says it like this; And now, God, do it again—bring rains to our drought- stricken lives. So those who planted their crops in despair will shout “Yes!” at the harvest, so those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing.
I am encouraged that God is speaking to me about times of blessing!
I fully believe God’s word – He says we will reap what we sow. It is time for us to reap a precious, costly, deep harvest – don’t you think? Yes! It’s time for us to return from our harvest field, singing and rejoicing in the faithfulness of our God. Jesus is the Lord of our harvest, and He sees our precious seed and He will fulfill His word. Let’s receive it today!
Today, I want to encourage you – seek God, pray about sowing a PRECIOUS SEED, wherever He leads you to – one that will – without doubt – cause you to return from the harvest field, laughing and dancing with armloads of blessing! I love the thought of that, don’t you?
